Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Some crazy overreactions here. He looked good in the very limited games he played but people have gone way overboard since he got injured. We don’t know what is going on behind the scenes but maybe it’s him wanting the move. Considering his background id guess a premier league contract and set for life whilst his friends and family are all scratching around on at best PIP or minimum wage. I’d rather he stayed but it’s not the disaster some are making it out to be

Eh?

Note to self: don't press the "show ignored" tab.

Think you are wrong mate

Have sat next to scouts for Twente Enschede and Man Utd at U-21 games both of whom were looking at Tommy Watson

Not only is he obviously very skillful with a good eye for goal at his age but he is also a very powerful runner with excellent endurance

I would be very surprised if he doesnt end up playing at the highest level - whether it is with us remains to be seen as both Mundle and Isidor can and maybe prefer to play on the left side of the attack

Maybe the club might have some room to manoeuvre in terms of using money from Tommy leaving to fund (?) A right sided forward or (?) a goal scorer/finisher especially if his chances could be limited in future with Mundle back fit

But I would be really sad to see such a talented local lad leave and really annoyed if we let him go for less than absolute top dollar - more than we got for Jack Clarke for a start

Spot on, people don't want him to leave because the potential is clear, fair enough he's only had a few games but in those he's looked mature, not wildly chasing about hyper because he got a game

I bet you will be popular on a night out in Easington.

Like Isidor, he looks like the complete athlete when he's running at players, has great feet, doesn't fear tough challenges, strikes the ball well and has an eye for goal. He's exactly the type of player we need and we should be busting a gut to offer him a decent contract. He was still a child when he signed the one he's on now and I'd imagine it's one of the lowest paid in the squad as a result. We did it for Rigg and now need to do the same for Tommy.

You haven't even got your thick skull around full stops ya moron.

If you want to debate the merits of flogging/keeping academy products I'm happy to do so, but if all ya can muster is dim witted base level insults you can piss off.
You aren’t remotely capable of debating with me, you would be completely and totally out of your depth

Full stops - on a message board? 😂

Luckily I never plan to go there haha. End of the day a pro footballer with that sort of upbringing will know he can be set for life by a good contract
Being set for life is such a small time attitude. Being comfortable is terrible for a person, it removes any ambition and leaves you in monotony. You need some hardship, anxiety, obstacles, or conflict in your life, facing it and overcoming it is what makes you feel good, alive and confident. It's what gives you drive and ambition. You need some badness in your life so you can appreciate the good times.

It is very true that money can't buy lasting happiness, you quickly become used to being rich and buying what you want, so money doesn't have that same aura it does when you don't have it.

We have seen plenty of footballers going off the rails or not reaching their potential as soon as they've got that 'set for life' contract. If Watson has sense he will stay here where he has the best opportunity to develop and reach his full potential.

He can still earn very good money here and then go onto the massive money in a couple of seasons.

And what if he gets a bad injury and needs to retire?
