Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Thing I’ve liked about him he has looked better in each consecutive game he has played, another few games is really going to bring the lad on. Really hoping he gets a goal soon…be brilliant for him!

More than 2m Brighton bid that’s for sure….
Brilliant point I was half expecting le bris take him out of team for this one but he's shown faith in him, I'm the worst for it but we have to show patience as fans with him, I heard people at the west brom game already starting to be critical yet they weren't saying anything about more established players who were doing less.

Have to admit I was a doubter. Thought he might be one of those lads who looks like Messi at youth level but struggles to step up, but he was fantastic on Friday night. Hopefully he gets a goal soon and his confidence goes even higher.

He’s a very good prospect, but he’s one we need to be patient with.

He’s not going to be at that consistent Jack Clarke type level at the moment, he’s only broke into senior football this season.

Give him time and he’ll hopefully flourish. He’s had a good start, just needs to work on the end product.
Played well on Friday. Looked like he had won a competition the game before.

His ball retention needs to improve.
I thought he looked good against Millwall in the early stages, but then faded. Against West Brom he struggled a bit but still had some good direct moments.

Sheff U away was his best game so far, so hopefully he’s settling in and learning quickly.

Horrific crack this like, some attitude to have toward the club you're meant to support.
Christ on a bike. You just ignored the other bit like?

Aye this, he played really well against Sheffield U, the ball retention thing worries me, part of it is him but then I think the way we play magnifies it and when we lose it, it is problematic. Signs are good though.

Either Watson or Mundle is going to have to master playing right wing.

The other three options of Roberts, Ba and Poveda will never contribute the goals and assists required for us to have a successful season.

There was a fella at the Preston game berating him all through the game as if he was a seasoned pro having a stinker of a game rather than a young kid on his first start playing on the wrong side of the pitch and in a makeshift forward line.
He's a cracking player and will be a mainstay of the squad by the end of the season.

I’m just hoping our sink or swim approach to his career works out. In an ideal world I’d prefer our young prospects to be introduced to the league in a measured fashion rather than thrown in game after game when our first team player gets injured.

I think he’s gonna be a great player btw, I just think it’s a bit of a sad reflection of our transfer activity when we bring in a load of more experienced players but risking a kids career is a better option than playing them.

I know “if you’re good enough you’re old enough” etc but if he has a few shit games trying to get up to speed with the league it’s not gonna do him any favours.

They are not. risking his career like. He’s been around the 1st team for ages now, he first made the bench almost 2 years ago and I think travelled with them before that. Ideally he would have come off the bench a few more times but this is a massive chance for him and he’s doing well.

Why would you think that though? Based on what? He's had years of development and this is the thought process of people after seeing him after two starts. I just dont get it.

Watched the kid come through the academy and didn’t think he would cut it.

Based on his recent performances in the championship my opinion has changed, the lad undoubtedly has raw talent and I think if he can fine tune his finishing he can go on to become a regular and create good competition down the left or even as an out and out striker.
