Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Probably a good move for Watson. Brighton are a stable solid prem team. They give young lads chances so he will get opportunities there. Probably treble his wages. Hopefully if its true will get a decent fee for him

Would drastically reduce our chances of promotion if we sold him, but hey KLD is only interested in "sustainability" so it's a massive win for him. We are simply just a development club now, the owner has no interest in competing in higher division.

He's played in 10 league games this season. Started a handful. Hardly going to drastically reduce our chances of promotion if we sell him.

It'll be a shame to see him go, but dont let that get in the way of the potential of a massive overreaction

Am I the only one who doesn't see the massive doom on this one?

There's only 3 years between him and Mundle and personally, as things stand, I don't see him starting games ahead of Mundle if/when both are fit and he looks a little bit away from that sort of level at the minute.

No doubt he'll go on to have a good career and he looks an excellent talent, but if we can get a decent fee for a player who has 18 months left on his deal and is likely to be second choice in his own position behind a player who is only 3 years older than him, I don't see a massive issue.

I'd love to keep him don't get me wrong, but sometimes you have to pick your battles. The kid probably doesn't even know if he'll ever be first choice ahead of Mundle here currently.
It won't be a decent deal though. They only bid 2/3m in the summer and I doubt it's rose that much and his contract running down.

We'll probably sell him to fund a striker.
Yet we haven't spent anywhere near the money from the last player we sold for a decent fee.

We are on the cusp of challenging seriously for automatics and its like the club can't really be arsed to give it a push

This he’ll get game time at Brighton.

Has Watson been rejecting contracts? If not, how on earth has he got to the stage of only having 18 months left?
