Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

He chews gum while playing as well as while interviewing. Like a male version of Violet Beauregarde. As long as he keeps banging them in, I don't mind so much. Rock on, Tommy.

Might be now! That was a real coming of age performance. Unlucky not to have a couple of assists, really should have had a hat-trick and could have had four. Also looks to be learning the physical side quickly. Whatever we’re doing with left wingers, I wish we’d do on the right as well!

Everyone's inverted these days so where it used to be hard to find left wingers, the same reason makes it hard to find right wingers.

We've got another left winger in the kids who'll be the business in a year or so as well
Yep, he's been a level above everyone for the U21s and isn't going to learn much more being at that level.

It's wierd like. I've been watching most of the u21 games last 2 years (all home, any away on TV or boro I went to as well) and we've dropped a few first team players down. The only ones who have looked too good for the u21s in that time are Rigg, Watson and, tbf, connolly.

Good point regarding inverted wingers.

He has some filling out to do but hopefully not as much as Violet.

When I watched him for the u21’s I said he would be better than Clarke . Having seen him in the first team , I think he may give Rigg a run for his money .

I’m just hoping our sink or swim approach to his career works out. In an ideal world I’d prefer our young prospects to be introduced to the league in a measured fashion rather than thrown in game after game when our first team player gets injured.

I think he’s gonna be a great player btw, I just think it’s a bit of a sad reflection of our transfer activity when we bring in a load of more experienced players but risking a kids career is a better option than playing them.

I know “if you’re good enough you’re old enough” etc but if he has a few shit games trying to get up to speed with the league it’s not gonna do him any favours.
I really don’t think the club are risking his career and I’m 100% certain that’s not how Tommy sees it….
Might not be what everyone wants to hear but he’s nowhere near good enough yet
Look forward to seeing him when he is.
