Is his dad owned an electrical shop he must of had a cracking technics or aiwa hi fi
My first car was an ex-Lynn's Rainbow Rentals Ford Escort Estate . It didn't come with a telly in the back but had a lovely holographic rainbow on the dashboard ! As I said in post #54, before I jetted off for a lads holiday to San Antonio I dropped into Tom's shop on Holmeside to have a chat with him. I walked out of the shop that day with a giant red ghetto blaster that Tom said I could take away free "on trial" for a fortnight. When it landed back in Sunderland covered in sand and San Miguel, I felt obliged to pay for it. Great memories of one of Sunderland's finest.Lynn's of Holmeside I had loads of great football craic with Tommy in there.
Also at the game, think it was Carl Harris 1-0 game, Siddall got lobbed. We played in all red top .Like many people, I first became aware of Tom Lynn in the early 70s through reading the Footy Echo from back to front and then back again as a football crazy early teenager. I always assumed he was a bloke even tho the reality was, that he was only three years older.
Anyway, me and Jeff Brown plus two others were at Elland Road in 81. Jeff suddenly said "look, there's Tommy Lynn". As I had no idea what he looked like, I said "where ?"
Jeff pointed to the pitch where errr, ermmm, Thomas was "being shown the delights of the stadium" by a West Yorkshire copper who was very nice as he seemed to be leading Tom by the arm. I literally could not believe how young he was (he'd only have been 23 at that time) !!
When I told Tom this story years later, he laughed that signature laugh of his and told me no sooner had he been "shown out", that he paid to get back in moments later.
Legend.
