The legendary Australian, Jeff Thomson, comes to Durham at the end of the month. During his test career Thomson took 200 wickets for Australia and also bowled the fastest ever recorded delivery during a test. He will however always be remembered as one half of the duo, who with Dennis Lillee, terrorised batsmen the world over. He first came to prominence during the 1974-5 Ashes series taking 33 English wickets ensuring the little Urn stayed down under.

Durham City Cricket Club are holding an evening with Jeff Thomson and the hilarious comedian Brendan Healy on Thursday, 30th June at Hallgarth Manor Hotel at Pittington.

Tickets, including a curry supper, are only £25 or tables are still available. Please see the attached poster for your club. For further information, please contact [email protected], or ring the club on 0191 3869959 or 07764606771

sounds canny

That will be a good night. My dad went to see them when I was a bairn, he told me loads of canny stories about them. Jeff Thompson said about a recent england test match (this was late 90's) where England scored 400, ''they would have only got just over 200 if me and Lillee were bowling, but we are in our 40's and not as good as we used to be''
