Tom Harrison and ECB execs

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but I’ve just read in Wisden that despite pandemic-induced economic losses that led to 62 redundancies at the ECB Tom Harrison and his chums are sharing out a bonus of £2.1m

Test team in tatters and a truly shameful racism scandal which has shaken English cricket to its foundations but these posh twats are still doing very well out of running this wonderful game into the ground.

Disgusting how this man is still in a position of power.

That would be the best outcome of all of this - Get him back involved as things seemingly went to shit when he stepped down.

Absolutely

I think I’d want him chief executive though not chairman?

Chairman more of a figurehead role where as chief executive is more hands on

I get why some in media are reluctant to have a mass clear out just because we lost the ashes but I really do think silverwood and Giles have to go

Harrison sill go in the next year but we physically need someone at the ECB day to day at the minute

And I’ve changed my mind on root. He can’t be captain going forward for me. I just think he’s been there a long time anyway.

That's true of most organisations but not ECB. Graves appeared to have dictatorial powers with Harrison his puppet. The puppet talks jibberish with no one to work him now that Graves has gone, Watmore was wholly ineffective and the current interim chairman unwilling to provide any guidance.

But watmore had absolutely no power at all like. I know graves did but that was in partnership with Harrison

They should all be sacked over the next year. I think the problem is the elitism that stems from the MCC. They still think they run world cricket. They do not. The way it has run the game for its own ends since nearly the very beginning is a disgrace. For anyone to progress in the game to the highest level they have to be 3 times the player of a public school. Then go to this bunny festival or whatever it is - is that run by another MCC man? Young players are told you will never get anywhere unless you go to this club or that club. Preferably with a public school education. Harry Brooke went to Ilkley Grammar and then was awarded a cricket scholarship at Sedbergh - good luck to him. Others just go to Sedbergh and Daddy pays. You don't get many from Parkside - DAwdon School and then Seaham School - not quite the same sadly.

If the MCC were removed from the ECB and other organisations then we might see a more productive cricket system - not just for the rich.
