How was writing off all the debt not good for SAFC????

Short lost millions, he could have left the debt. It wasn't a great deal for short. If short had stayed, he'd have paid off some of his debt with that money anyway.

It was an indifferent deal for SD/CM.
You are the most deluded man I have ever come across Charlie

Methven was at Wembley. The guy can't help himself. He cleared off to avoid the cameras no doubt. Would have been good pantomim to hear him booed after cheers for QUINN and REID
Yep, can’t help himself has to be centre of attention Metvhen, the same person that slaughtered our fans on numerous occasions, at lots of different venues, to lots of people, a privileged prat.

Anyone expecting rapid movement could well be disappointed. We are one leage away from the cashpot that is the premier league. The chance of rolling the promotion dice again, and potentially doubling the clubs value will be too great a pull for any owner or majority share holder, and I suspect it would be too big an ask for any individual with so much investment in the club (even if a significant portion of that has been the clubs own money).

A lot of Speakman fans on here now, funny what a promotion can do to peoples thoughts.
I have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

1) The revelation that KLD was majority shareholder in name only shifted the blame back to Twit and Twat

2) The circus of sacking LJ, trying to get RK only to hire AN makes Keane now looks like a Donald and Methven idea not a Speakman one

3) He got away with selling Flanagan, turned out he was being disruptive

4) “The Data” looks to have brought in more good players than the last 4 seasons combined

5) The halo effect of getting promoted

He’s bought himself another year

I've had this premontiion that Kyril wont be at the club next season. Its going to be an interesting few months.

So at least try to explain how paying off £125M was a really bad deal for SAFC.

Or are you so blinded by hate that you cannot.
The point is for the last time the parachute money wasn’t chancers money to pay off anything, it was supposed to be used to rebuild the club after relegation.
Nobody else that ES was selling to was paying back the debt back either.
Chancers paid £12m for the club of there own cash, let’s see what they sell for not £12m that’s for certain.

The £25m PP money went to short in exchange for writing off all the other debt. SAFC never had it, SD never had it.

Overall it was a good deal.

Hang on?

Correct me if I'm wrong here - but if you look back at the original purchase didn't SD say that "Short had put a charge against the parachute payment as an insurance to ensure he got the money" - but it wasn't required because SD was going to pay him before the charge was used?

But once people knew Short had been given the parachute money he started to backtrack and say that he'd pay the money back "as and when needed"?

If that's correct that 25 million could have easily got us promoted?

I agree that is the purpose of the parachute money. However, Short took it in exchange for writing the debt off. If he hadn't - the club was likely to go into administration.

What they sell for is a completely different issue.

I agree, what was said and how the PR was handled was dreadful.

However, the £25m was never there to spend, it was always going to Short.

So the question then becomes, should SD/CM have invested more in the club. That's a different question.

My issue is the nonsense going around that somehow SD has pocketed the £25m - he didn't.
