This is why I’ll never be comfortable with the model

Selling your better players to bring in others and develop them. Isn’t this exactly what Brighton have done successfully over the years?

Not great seeing good players go but here we are!
Most of us understand that we are going to sell to invest, but not by undervaluing our prized assets.

We get that, but we need to not sell ourselves short. Clarke is worth more than £20 million, especially to us.

Not for a packet of peanuts mind.

Clarke leaving at some point or another soon was inevitable, but for price he has gone it is unforgivable.

It shows we are either being ran by thickies or are skint. Even possibly both.

Extremely worrying.

Difference is Brighton and Brentford use the money to upgrade their standard of player and replacements each time.

We dilute the quality with a load of bairns and go backwards! 🙄
Market issue I think, sell Clarke for essentially 11.25 mill up front, Kwame Poku in L1 would cost majority of that.

But the amount of money we're getting is pitiful. Surely there's a reason for this. Perhaps the add ons are all but guaranteed and Spurs don't get a percentage of add ons but even at £20m, dear me.

Knowing us we'll still owe Spurs some of the transfer fee as well.

I'd rather keep Clarke for the next 2 years and let him go for free than accept this deal where we get just over £11m.

It's pathetic. What's to say the add-ons ever materialise and there's also no mentioned of a % sell-on for us when Ipswich sell him.
