Your family loyalties etc will still be there and are a very good reason to stay away. The only way it would work is if large numbers stayed away.
I am staying away, Sunderland AFC will always be part of our family, but our family will be staying away until things change.
 

Despite the fact a protest protest didn't really happen, I thought the presence of a potential one had an impact. Short actually turned up, although he kept it extremely quiet, and the atmosphere was a bit more flat even than usual. There were less people just mopingly clapping off shite at the end (and this included a significant number of Man U fans in the home end). They also played Wise Man Says very quietly at the end. I also Moyes was more careful what he said afterwards, and not saying the shite he's spouting for months. They got away scot-free in the end (again) but you could feel anxiety from the club.

Here you go again. Mocking people try to help our club. It's very strange behaviour. I don't think you realise how much respect you've lost as a poster during this whole debacle. You should take a leaf out of @janey and just let people live, or at debate on fair terms. Still, at least you're not mocking disabled people this time, so it's a start.

I don't think he cares about SAFC any more and is vastly more interested in recouping as much money as possible rather than our well-being. If other people want to join me they can. If they don't want to join me and would rather walk out and go home, go to the pub or whatever then that's their choice.

I genuinely don't understand why people are taking the piss about this - I did what I said I would and hopefully next time there'll be twice as many people, and the time after that twice as many as that.

We are heading in only one direction at the moment and something needs to happen.

I doubt short is even aware, protests are cringy thick mag level pointless events.

I don't come on here for respect, or to justify myself to anyone.

I come on to speak my mind and don't allow myself to be bullied into following other people's ideas no matter how many times they like each other's posts and congratulate themselves.

The fact you come on with your 'mocking disabled' drivel shows the kind of person you are, absolutely anything to win your argument.

You decide, against all reason, that because of an implied protest on an internet page ..... Short sneaked into the stadium, people clapped less, sang less and they turned the music down.

As I said, anything to prove you're right no matter how ludicrous it may be.

I fully explained my position, in a post you clowns totally ignored, which is clear and honest.

You lot just come on shouting, insulting people and posting smileys when you don't have an answer.

It just comes across as infantile attention seeking and obvious that you've absolutely no idea what you want to happen.

Not wanting a bunch of mouthy idiots, thinking they speak for the whole support, to embarrass themselves and me isn't weird behaviour at all.

Can you do me a favour there and let Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal fans that they're behaving like mags. I think it's important they're made aware of this.

No one has spoken on behalf of all fans. We've made our opinions known and others can choose not to, or choose to express a different view. If you had actually turned up at the game you too could have made your opinion known.

Fair enough what YOU are saying here, but on this thread alone fans are being told they don't care of they don't protest and are part of the problem. So no wonder some, including @Reiver probably, have taken a bit of an exception to it. I don't think it's funny or burst out laughing when the other team scores past us either, but I'm deemed to not care or be part of the problem. Works both ways mate.

Who's having a go at fans that don't protest?

I've been called a mag, an embarrassment, was told the other day that if I was seen doing it I'd be spat on, that I'm a disgrace etc.

I haven't said to anyone they are a lesser fan for not protesting. I'll tell them I think they should join me - and give my reasons - but I respect they may not agree and certainly don't think I'm an "uber" fan for doing it.

TBH I think that most the abuse has been in one direction, and it's been directed at those wanting to protest.

I think it's legitimate to say that there's a lot of apathy at the SoL at the moment. It isn't a criticism of anyone - I feel it too. It's just an observation of what's happening.

I want as many supporters as possible to join me in protesting the state of the club. But whether it's 50 or 500 it's academic to me. I'm furious at persistent mismanagement and have been for sometime. I am going to tell the club this. If people can't be bothered or don't agree then that's fine - it's their decision. But honestly, fuck the charlatan Short. He's been an absolute disgrace this season.
