The Steven Taylor chant

4 minutes into a semi final and possibly the worst thing ever at either Roker or the Ssol.
Absolutely pathetic.
If someone next to your chants it, punch him or her in the gob immediately.
dont worry mate no-one heard it - i didnt and was sat on the halfway line

That was the best atmosphere the south stand has created since we beat the mags. It was very loud at times, class to be a part of.

From the East Stand it was silent.
I was virtually half way between the two sets of fans and there was no comparison.

Maybe i'm being harsh. Was there anyone else in other parts of the ground who thought differently??

Man Utd fans were relentless last night. Our fans were virtually silent. It wouldn't have been like that years ago.

Whatever happened to all the great songs we had? We had anthems, we had Geordie songs we had the f**king lot.
When did we start to lose our way?

Let's not get carried away - a number of clubs, including us, have a reputation for being great away noise makers, who out-sing home fans regularly. They had large numbers and were vocal, more vocal than us, most of the game. But there was a 20 minute gap after our second where you couldn't hear a peep. The South Stand made plenty of noise for periods of the game, and the rest of the crowd wasn't bad at points.

What I found odd was their collective delayed reaction to scoring, how shortlived the celebrations were and the fact that they didn't let it interrupt one of their dull chants for more than about 10 seconds. They expect to win and are predominantly glory hunters for who must find it difficult to get genuinely 'over the moon' . Fuck 'em all.

I wish it was bullshit. It hurts to admit.
It is bullshit.[DOUBLEPOST=1389179498][/DOUBLEPOST]

They were louder doesn't mean we were quite and certainly weren't silent.

You're talking utter shit mate.

oh, and singing "you're only here to see United" just indicates how thick they are when a league game against a bottom three club gets a much bigger crowd.

I prefer it when everyone sings the chorus and bounces around to be honest.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is already not enough noise at the SOL without telling people what should and should not be sang.

Anyway it wasn't the loudest chant as some have said. We're by far the greatest team was loud as fuck after the penna.

Let's wait and see what other Sunderland fans say who were around the ground.
I'm telling you as a Sunderland fan who was sitting almost half way between the two exactly what i saw and heard.

I even edited my post to include the other song i heard which was "things can only get better", maybe close or round 3/4's through the game. It wasn't particularly loud but i had forgotten about that one.

Believe me we weren't silent. I was in the south stand and I know you're talking shite.

Silent

Let's wait and see what others say. For 90% of the time it was like being in a library in 3 parts of the ground.

It sounds like you think it was loud in the South Stand. I can't comment on that because i wasn't there.
I can comment on being half way between the two sets of fans and the difference in noise levels was embarrassing. I admit i did see some arms waving the odd time in the SS so assumed they were singing but couldn't make out any tune or words.
Our support has lost it's way at home.

I don't need to.

Piston talking bollocks as usual.

I wish i was.
I was there last night though. I wasn't in with Man Utd fans and i wasn't in the South Stand either. I haven't commented on being in either of those stands.
I was half way between the two and it was embarrassing. Out of interest, where were you sitting to gain an advantage??

The full upper part of the SS was standing and singing. Cup crowds normally bring out the the dregs of our support but last night it was excellent. It was x10 better than the Chelsea game in the QF's.

South Stand. And believe me, it wasn't like a library. Nor were Man Utd great. They were poor by their standards.

I was maybe about 10 meters North of the Halfway line in the West stand, didn't hear a peep from the South Stand until near the end of the 1st half, all i could hear was Man Utd. Not trying to be a dick, and criticise our fans for being quiet, but that's what me lugs said.

Agreed. I was stood in disbelief that it was actually being sung, its a shame that song gets the stadium louder than any other.

We need a new song to the same tune, so we've still got the woooah, without looking like *****

Philip Philip Philip
Philip f***ing Bardsley Bardsley Bardsley
He's our top scorer scorer scorer
and Im indifferent to him to him to him
Whoah ooooh

It might not have been like a library from in the South Stand but it was from outside it.
Man Utd fans were loud and relentless, from where i was.[DOUBLEPOST=1389182238][/DOUBLEPOST]

No fella, you're 100% correct.
That's exactly how it was. Despite what others may say you don't need a hearing test.

Best away day I ever had was Peterborough in the FA Cup, all because we were singing former players chants. Was class. Love how Utd still sing about Solskjaer and Brown etc. Gives you more of a repitwore(sp?) of tunes. I think at P'Boro we sang about Reidy, Hurley, Sorensen, Quinn, Rae, Russell, Smithy, Phillips, Halom. Was brilliant.

Watching on TV (yep I didn't go) all I could hear were the Man Utd fans. I didn't hear our fans singing until after Borini put us 2-1 ahead. After that it all seemed to be Sunderland.
