Ha, you never know, they might have already been wearing the best boots for the surface but they weren't effective enough. That's the only reason I can think of for them not changing.

Sorry but it's grass not ice. If you wear a long screw in stud you won't slip over, simple as that. If you wear moldies or blades you may well do.

Yeah that's a fair enough take. I'm just thinking as much as wearing longer studs might not explain why they were slipping, wearing blades or moulded studs might not explain why none of those players affected decided to change their boots during play.

Reminds me a lot of Di Canio and probably the polar opposite type of character those spurs players needed.

They’re not even remotely boots man, they’re more like carpet slippers, they should go back to wearing good old fashioned boots.

Sunday morning players don’t have the luxury of multiple pairs of boots and they seem to manage ok.

Obvious I know, but think it’s the constant watering for slick football that makes the top surface so fragile (not just slippy but the grass roots don’t bind the surface together), but a pro should use the warm up to test ‘pushing off’ etc, as well as stretching their muscles

Not really as Spurs had a free header where they should have scored. Rosenior said he would never do it again as Arsenal had 3 clear cut chances from corners when he did it at the Emirates.

Its a measure of how risk averse the modern game has become though.

I have no doubt that the statistics show that you are less likely to concede directly from a corner if you have everyone back, but the fuller picture is you are also less likely to clear it and remove the pressure and less likely to score a breakaway goal. It does also force the attacking team to keep more than one player deeper up the pitch.

The vast majority of teams do have everyone back, its not just us, but long throw ins also went out of fashion and now every team wants to do them.

I think the right way to go last time was an old head with plenty of premier league experience and bottom end at that.
