If you were a mag, you'd be absolutely seething reading that. Your arch rivals have just been promoted and already beaten you twice, above you in the league, and have qualified for the EL to top it all off.

But it's okay according to the author because they've been in Europe more in the past?

They all thought the advent of the Saudis meant that we were permanently consigned to obscurity, they had bigger rivals and bigger ambitions now and they were light years ahead of little old Sunderland

And yet here they are clutching at the faintest of straws after another season being schooled :lol:

Then December hit. Their super squad were humbled and their record signing gifted us the points. Another Christmas ruined for them. This wasn't supposed to happen but AFCON was going to put things right and come 22nd March they'd be relegating us from the PL in front of a packed Sid James.

Except that didn't happen either as Big Brian accepted Enzo's exquisite double meg to put them to the sword and get a little justice for the racist abuse Gerty had suffered.

They've been chasing us almost the entire season bar a couple of weeks where they went above us. We've out fought them, out thought them and all done with a team spirit they can only dream of.

Beating them once at home would have been amazing to think at the start of the season. But we did it twice and even their best players bottled wanting to play in the games.

We finished above them not just a little but 5pts and 5 places.

And finally, the rusty stake into their black hearts, we've qualified for Europe, the Europa League as well, so even higher than most of us were thinking in the last few days of the season.

It's no surprise that they're clutching at any straws to try and find something positive. There's very little posotive about their season so they've reverted to type re-writing history to suit their narrative and try to belittle us.

Sadly it doesn't change the fact we only needed 1 season back to catch up. The orcs will be very restless this long, hot summer.

Exactly this, we finished on such a high and have a long summer with lots to look forward to.

They barely put up a fight and lost to Fulham while seeing us qualify for Europe. Their squad is in disarray, they have no idea who will stay and go. They ended on misery and negativity.

The timings have been great this season, after we beat them at their place there was a 3 week international break.

This is pretty devastating. They don't have European football, they finished below us, lost home and away- yet they still have a medium sized provincial aerodrome named after them. It must be a great source of comfort to them.
I don't care if this is bookmarked and We get knocked out at the first opportunity. but they must know, and it must eat at them, that this is a winnable competition- it would kill them

A few said to me it’s because the league shit this year, I then said well how the fuck yous finish so low then. You could see them trying to think of a reply 😂 It broke them that we got back up, but they had wa got Europa, it broke them we beat them twice, they thought they’d still finish above us and get champions league 😂 now they are in full denial we’ve finished above them and landed the second best European competition. One they were all screaming they could make a few weeks ago, now it’s Micky mouse. A bit like the carabo cup was a Micky mouse cup in 2014 then turned into the World Cup last season. That’s the one thing that always separates us, they always have a come back can’t hold their hands up and swim in a Tyne river sized pool of hypocrisy. I f***ing love it and they’ve got an entire summer to sit in and simmer in it. What a f***ing time to be alive let’s get carried away while laughing at the daft fuckers falling over themselves with excuses.

The fact it all happened on the last game too. No come back, no opportunity to make amends. Results in, season finished.

We beat the current World Club Champions to qualify for Europe, they were schooled by Fulham to finish in the bottom half of the table. All the way to August to soak it up.
