The most ordinary bowling in years.

If a wicket is producing less than six or more than 12 wickets in a day on average they should be reported. If it happens again in the space of 3 years they get no tests for 2/3 years and lose fuckloads of revenue. Sorted.

Dead track. A track we should have been able to score 500+ on. The Saffers have shown how to go about it with the bat. Some tremendous test match batting from them. Love watching Amla.

its a perfectly fine test wicket. No worse than anything on the sub continent and South Africa have performed better on it. Simple as really

Maybe there bowlers are just better than ours? Its a terrible wicket man

They certainly look to have settled the question very quickly of who has the best bowlers. You can't always expect the pitch to help, and we had the look after about lunch on Saturday of a team that thought the game couldn't be won or lost.

It IS a shite pitch and also made to ensure five days, but one set of bowlers tried harder because of it and one eased up. You really can't pick your sessions to put in the effort.

Sort of agree, we seem to have got so used to knocking teams over, six wickets a session and all that, and we've just stopped trying.

They certainly looked miles better than us on the strength of the one test. Steyn is indisputably the best quick on either team and Philander looked very good but we have had a habit of coming back strongly and I seem to remember similar criticism after Perth for example. If its the same story after the next test then its absolutely fair comment.

Agree with that, although I'd also say that the SA batsmen played a damn sight better than the England batsmen, too many overly aggressive shots too early in innings or just daft thinking. Having seen two balls bounce a lot in the over what the hell possessed Strauss to play a sweep shot?
