The London clique trying to buy out the SMB circa 2006

Are there people around who remember the self-proclaimed elite of the forum who tried to oust Roger and turn the place into a membership / subscription site for their own pockets? There are still names I see to this day who were a part of it but act as if they're common folk. You know who you are.

Spiritual ancestor of this place, Blackcats Mailing list.

Was quite fond of a coup d'etat every now and then. Was taken over a few times.

Heady times
If memory serves one prominent member of blackcats mailing list led it all, wanted every fucker to stay on the forum but charge around £5 per month - and were prepared to pay off the owners of the forum.

See if they have the brass neck to out themselves

The London lot, always seemed to be enough time for a few of them around at any moment. popular posters on here who'll know themselves when they see this thread they were in on it. Harassing new members etc.

It all came out for about two weeks but the supporters branch put a stop to it.
Wew, ructions !.

Aye.

The mailing list takeovers were piss simple. People used to just set up new ones with the complete membership list publicly available on each email. Used to be a Pravda type message saying the previous owners were dead or something, and we’d all carry on as normal
They couldn't handle free speech on this type of platform, once people had got an even playing field. But it just shows them for the type of people they were at the time that they not only wanted moderating tools but to charge people for viewing and discussing SAFC content online
