I have often wondered whether the chant:

Clap
Clap
Clap clap clap
Clap clap clap clap
Sunlun’ (or which ever club you support)

… originates from Chelsea fans clapping and singing along to the Liqidator during the 70s? If you speed up the claps the pattern matches - sort of.

Surely the first two claps should have been on the same line ?

Naaaah, it's from the 1966 hit by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch - Hold Tight.

I remember a Rolf Harris show with an ear worm to that rhythm

“Rolf’s here,
What d’you say,
Ready to go?
OK!”

Can’t remember the decade
Or show though- 70s or 80s

Possibly taken from the song “let’s Go” by the Routers ( 1961 ) or they might have created the song from the chant. How old is the chant ?
