Symonds is at least 36, sure of it. He may have been part of a good Aussie team 5 years ago but he's never been a test regular and nothing suggests he would massively improve their side now. White or Khawaja would be much better options, I don't see one positive behind Symonds being recalled.

He is 35 and has a winners mentality which you cant put a price on

IMO he would improve the team. He had a sluggish start to his test career but improved massivley and had an avg of 40

p.s. I didnt realise he was a brummie!

Yeah born over here, surely you should be slating the Aussies for picking Pom's? ;)

Symonds had a good career and went through 18 months or so of being very high quality, but this is 4/5 years ago now, he's not pulled up any trees in recent years and if anything his off the field antics has got worse, it would be a backward step for Australia to pick him in any format.

agree he has lost his way off the field. still a class act

Englands loss was Australias gain

The odd one you can deal with, problem with England, its Morgan (your either Irish or English not both when it suits), Trott, Keiswetter, Dernbach, KP....too many for my liking

I dont get your point......

its like a lot of players like Morgan who has initially made a name for himself in one day cricket, wanting to play test cricket and getting in that way

Do the following play test cricket....
Shaun Tait
Shane Warne
Andrew Symonds
Lasith Malinga
Shane Bond
Scott Styris
Chris Gayle
Keiron Pollard
Dirk Nannes

Or are you trying to convince yourself they wouldnt enhance the standard of test cricket

The point being, the players - in general - don't consider it the pinnacle of their careers, the established players are having a pay day and the younger players see it as a stepping stone to the Test side.

Of the one's you've mentioned, Tait and Bond have well documented injury problems. Warne, Nannes, Symonds are Styris are pretty much done and Symonds wasn't a regular for Oz when he was available and Nannes is a 'never was'.

Gayle plays for WI. Pollard is a funny one I suppose but he's never really puller up any trees.

The only one there is Malinga, I dunno what the current arguments and falling out with the Sri Lanka board are all about, he might be the exception to the rule or he might be genuinely finished as well.

I suspect he may well be, it's hard to imagine someone with his unique action being able to play at the top level for that long. Either way his test bowling average is 33, which suggests he hasn't pulled up any trees at test level.
