The Hundred 2025


lasses game was good, i think i actually prefer womens hundred games, more of an even battle between bat and ball, and the actual best overseas players have turned up

i get it didnt need faffing with, but i also get why they attempted a point of difference, like we chatted about on another post, it seem more alien to us who have always know 6 ball overs, but people who have just got into the game in recent years just accept it

No doubt they do but it was the better balance between bat and ball was what I was referring to. Can see it reverting back to the norm if it's to attract the IPL market.

Even that felt like tinkering for the sake of it. It never really felt necessary at elite level, because the change of ends doesn’t feel like a big delay, and grounds have floodlights. In fact, it strikes me that it’s a more fundamental tinker than just having five ball overs.

It’s different if you’re relying on natural light. The reason we played 15×8 rather than 20×6 in midweek back in the day was because you could get 120 balls in with 14 changes of ends rather than 19, and at that level every minute of daylight mattered. I think they dropped it when eight ball overs were dropped from the laws as an option in 2000. Which was a pity really. Even if it only saves you 10 minutes, if you look at sunset times in June/July, 10 minutes can take two or three weeks out of your playing window.
 
Jacob Bethell and Ben Duckett (both Birmingham Phoenix); Liam Dawson, Jamie Overton (London Spirit); Harry Brook, Zak Crawley (Northern Superchargers), and Sam Cook and Joe Root (Trent Rockets) will be available for the duration.

England vice-captain Ollie Pope will miss Spirit's first two games and wicketkeeper Jamie Smith their opener against Oval Invincibles on Tuesday. Chris Woakes has been ruled out entirely with his shoulder injury.

The availability of bowlers Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse and Josh Tongue's will be confirmed in due course.

Should do it in 50 over Cricket as well. Could easily shave about half an hour of an innings if it was done every 5 overs.

Still see no reason why we can’t have the same two teams but 20 overs.

Sooner this competition changed to 20 overs the better.

However saying that watching Salt and Buttler in full flow always a good watch
