Every match women's and men's is live. Sky Sports Cricket obviously.

The Beeb have 8 taking sky TV pictures.

Simple to work out really.

think its just BBC trying to look good, as yes technically every game is on the BBC just not the tele

see i think they might leave it, 5 years worth of branding and name awareness will be lost. i know to some thats nowt but it does seem daft to just technically scrap that

Presumably the investors are confident of making a profit from the competition otherwise they wouldn't invest but given that it's been given maximum marketing with obscene salaries to attract players yet still haemorrhages money my concern is what plan have they to achieve this and what permanent damage will it do to English cricket. There's no evidence that youngsters will be attracted to a game simply because of foreign names that they've never heard of. The game needs to be taken to them

are the salaries that obscene? think the other leagues around the world pay more, that was part of the problem identified of not getting the big overseas names in the hundred, although as i pointed out in another post, kids dont really care about seeing the overseas they want to see the England lads they see on the TV, so that first year or so when the tests were still on they didnt play despite being the poster boys

I think the investors who have put in all that money will want it change to T20 to mirror the other competitions throughout the world.

They may as daft as it sounds still keep the name but change to 20 overs

The standard of overseas players this year is poor i agree, however the kids dont really want to see them, they want to See the likes of Stokes, Buttler, Root etc the England players they see on tv, my bairn loves cricket but sadly doesnt have the attention span to watch a full days play of test cricket, arguably 50 over cricket too, so to see the countries best players the hundred is where to go and then is probably more accessible to those 9 areas than 6 tests in a summer, 3 of which are in london

I could take the bairn to days test cricket and could maybe not see their favourite player all day, take them to the 100 and thats guaranteed, so to remove test cricket in august is maybe a necessary evil to get kids inspired, as the england players arent turning out for their counties on the regular in the blast or the CC

And id argue against it not gaining any new fans, My Mrs got pretty much brainwashed in that first month of the hundred that she agreed to come to the T20's the following summer, and now is a cricket fan in general

Agree re accessibility compared to localised test cricket, though that argument doesn’t stand up against T20 being played in the Blast at all counties.

Re: Mrs and child getting into cricket as a result of the hundred - how has the translation to different formats been when they have to unlearn everything due to different scoring and overs etc?

I know plenty of amateur players who have played cricket for years despise having to play the hundred format in local competitions having played traditional 6 ball overs, alternating ends and even 20 over (was long a thing midweek before it became TV monetised competition) - interesting to know if it is easier to convert understanding coming into the sport from the Hundred side.

She's accustomed to it now but when we first best to a blast game, it was "wheres Stokes and Wood thought they played for Durham" so yes more local games but your not seeing the "stars" as such but now they both have their favourites at Durham, Ollie Robinson and Jimmy Nesham apparently a hit with the Ladies

The 5 to 6 balls was loads easier to grasp, its not really unlearning everything though, the dismissals are the all the same, the transition to the scoring was harder, they actually prefer the balls left rather than it split into overs, although ive noticed even in t20 on sky the last 6 overs tends to be counted as balls and not overs on the screen

the bairn plays a lot of cricket now and they both them see changing ends after the over a massive waste of time, as under 11's cricket is all played from one end, which is a lesson i think the rest of junior cricket should take from the Hundred as it need speeding up slightly, 2 overs from one end might do that

Ive never played a hundred game only ever t20 or like you said just 20 over club cricket, i can see for those like us who its engrained into its more difficult to make the switch between the two, i think that was evident the other week, the bairn played a super 4's game for Durham foundation, they played a game of the hundred, and the kids were keeping the 2 experienced umpires right, you could see the umpires kept trying to change positions at the end of the over/set, one of the kids went to bowl again Umpire went to stop them and they said but i can bowl another over

i think the kids or fans whove only played/watched since the inception of the 100 so last 5 years or so make the switch better than we do
 
theyve changed the graphics to a more traditional set up, none of the chevrons down each side, also balls counting up, sure it used to be down
 
how loud is the stump mic, ive got headphones on but i feel like i can hear way more than i could in normal televised cricket

To be fair if you’re giving tickets to kids someone is supplying transport wherever. They ain’t making their own way there in the 2020s. Even if they live in CLS.
 
It's test cricket 1st everytime for me, having said that, I do enjoy The 100. No idea why, but I prefer it to T20.
