Its a white ball tournament so it is somewhat unfair to disregard those who specialize. Klaasen for example is an elite player in that format.
Ravindra surely would be regarded as an elite player in any format.
I don't like it either by the way. The sooner it gets to where its going (T20 global franchise circuit) the better. That will at least remove some of the noise around it.

Yesh probably the wrong term to use, but a lot of white ball specialists aren't exactly what I would call the elite of the game as IMO you need to be doing it in the longer format too.
Ravindra is a top player tbf but there's not many stand out white ball players in my view, how can there be when there's barely any sub-continent players?
Ravindra is a very good all-format player but averaging 20 with a SR 136 hardly puts him in the pantheon of T20 greats. Can't say that the quality of this seasons Hundred overseas is any better than that of this seasons Domestic T20. Hell of a lot more costly.

But you said "Durham games" when I asked what games. I'm now confused by your first paragraph. Are you saying The Hundred gives Durham free tickets for Hundred games?

There is absolutely no doubt ‘The Hundred’ has not delivered with the promise of the top top international players.
Hopefully that will change for future seasons and the top Indian as well as top T20 players turn up with the new investment getting them there
They're certainly legends but both have their best days behind them. Whether obscene bribes will attract the supposedly world class hitters is irrelevant if the potential new audience has to travel lengthy journeys or have pay for view to see them and that they can't identify them by name or sight.
With such restrictions this form of cricket is furthering elitism rather than diversifying.

A good few pages ive had to catch up on after a week away, but theres far too many purists on here who will always take the first opportunity to Criticise it,
The standard of overseas players this year is poor i agree, however the kids dont really want to see them, they want to See the likes of Stokes, Buttler, Root etc the England players they see on tv, my bairn loves cricket but sadly doesnt have the attention span to watch a full days play of test cricket, arguably 50 over cricket too, so to see the countries best players the hundred is where to go and then is probably more accessible to those 9 areas than 6 tests in a summer, 3 of which are in london
I could take the bairn to days test cricket and could maybe not see their favourite player all day, take them to the 100 and thats guaranteed, so to remove test cricket in august is maybe a necessary evil to get kids inspired, as the england players arent turning out for their counties on the regular in the blast or the CC
And id argue against it not gaining any new fans, My Mrs got pretty much brainwashed in that first month of the hundred that she agreed to come to the T20's the following summer, and now is a cricket fan in general

Why would any decent county side win it at a canter? when the teams are picked from the best county sides that makes no sense whatsoever.

Discounted and free tickets being dished out all over the place, I think the average price paid per ticket is around £9.
This year the 16.4 will have to sell about 120 tickets just to replace the money I'm not spending on cricket.

Franchise cricket is a showcase for 8 individuals and not a team game. The team might well overcome a group of 8 individuals.

Oh yeah, I'm not disputing that they give away loads of free tickets. I was just confused at the concept of them giving Durham CCC tickets when the nearest game is at Leeds. Are they expecting Durham to also supply transport?
No they supply the freebies and include them in the sold numbers whether or not they're used to artificially boost sales figures.

Durham do the same mind, £1 tickets for season ticket holders, freee tickets for women’s teams, reduced price for being an all star etc, I’ve never paid more than £70 for the 3 of us to go to the riverside all season for the blast
Of course they do and there's nothing wrong with that. But allocating tickets free to clubs and then counting them in as "sold" whether they're used or not is obviously misleading.
