Well as a Gold Member (not that really means much) of Durham Cricket thought it was about time I chucked an opinion in. I can't get away with this competition primarily because say Trent Rockets v. Manchester Originals means absolutely nothing to me. Its just 2 manufactured teams playing each other for the Franchise Cup. Who cares? Granted this format is supposed to appeal to a "New Audience" but its just the T20 dressed up in high heels and lipstick. Presumably due to the FTECB's incompetence they can't get the current T20 away from the Sky monopoly, who now ironically cover it less, so now have created this Bride of Frankenstein. The T20 could have easily been reformatted.

I wouldn't mind so much but in England the Test and First Class Cricket calendar has been almost cleared to purely focus on this format. Basically the people that form the supporting backbone of English cricket (like me) are completely ignored to cater for some other individuals who may or not become interested in cricket. Talk about the tail wagging the dog. However I do not believe that all is lost. Although Durham Cricket are not one of them, most of the First Class Counties are owned by their Members. Consequently there is likely to be huge backlash against this hijacking of Test and First Class County Cricket and why FTECB are allowed to get away with it. What has been completely ignored, by all parties involved in over hyping this irrelevant competition, is that the First Class Counties supply the bulk of the players that play in this competition but for reasons unknown this has been completely overlooked. Obviously, initially, FTECB got the First Class Counties on-side by bribing them with cash, however do the members of these Counties, who actually own them, approve of this? I doubt it.

I think that’s how many think on the forum

Something is clearly going to break eventually about this

I’ve said it before but the premise is wrong. It should have been all the counties involved at their grounds

I want to go on but I’ve said it all before . It has to be expanded

I just don't like franchise cricket full stop. It's boring and soulless. I watch the Aussie one as it's on when there's nothing else going on in the middle of winter, but I couldn't tell you who plays for who and who's won in a particular year
