The Hundred 2022 Match Thread

Just watching as nowt else is on

i don’t have bt sport.

still not a run a ball and a wicket to a dibbly dobbly bowler.

There’s absolutely loads on.

I’d rather watch a blank screen than give this dross viewership.

I expected better from you.

I’m on a stream and barely taking notice, I’m watching coronation street And posting on here.

im not listening now to the game

the whole premise of this is wrong and nothing they are doing could not have been done to the t20

I get your general argument mate but people are now trying to justify the Blast as a superior standard of cricket on this thread. Sorry, but that’s shite.
Shite is harsh imo. Finals day is always fantastic. I do agree some t20 is poor but as I’ve advocated if the top England players were allowed to play it could have been improved

what we are seeing is the old sweats, who go worldwide in the t20 leagues getting paid huge amounts for old rope

I just don’t see it inspiring anyone
commonwealth games is canny

switch it off, don't contribute to their audience figures
I’m not. I’m cough cough, using an alt method ,

I feel like I went into this last year with more of an open mind than most traditional cricket fans. I hope it does get new people into the sport and works as a platform to improve the womens game.

It's just baffling as to why they couldn't put this level of investment into the blast and got the same (or even better) results.
I think that’s right because it’s basically the same.

That’s why it baffles me when people say the blast is great and this is not.

It’s played by roughly the same players over roughly the same time, so if you like one it stands to reason to like the other.

.

Once footy is back and midweek games are on, I may watch only the finals of this.

tonight there’s nowt on I fancied so it’s on my lap top, with muted sound, while I watch the soaps and post on here

im not keeping a ball by ball scorecard on my lap. Background stuff only

The Blast is played with teams you can identify with and in most cases at a ground near to cricket fans. It is also played by proper cricket rules.

This feels like It's a Knockout.

Well exactly I like the blast very much always have always will.

But if this is played by more or less the same players then surely it will be roughly the same standard.

That’s just common sense surely

but one is ruining the game and the other isn't.

The T20 is sufficient for "a night out" and to "inspire younger folk" - we don't need another competition which is basically destroying the competition we're currently world champions in. There isn't really any star names on show tonight either. I just don't get it.

how do you expect me living in Durham to "like the other" when the "other" is nearest based in Leeds, approx 90 miles away? How can I like that?

That’s fair enough, but that doesn’t make it a better standard or better entertainment as it’s played by the roughly same players over roughly the same time.

I think that's what annoys me the most about it. It's the hyperbole in the broadcast when it's no different to what we already have. Talking about how exciting this innings is when they are going at a run a ball is just bollocks.

'You've never seen anything like this before' is how they market it. Well we have done, it's no different to a format we've had for years. All you've done is change it from 6 to 5 balls an end and put some hideous, garish graphics on the screen and ostracise some traditional cricketing areas.

We’ve had these discussions before. I just feel this competition was Ill thought out and has affected the whole of the cricket season in a negative way, which they choose to ignore.

this disappears for next season and we go back to cc, t20 and rl50, with England games, it creates a gap of a month where players can actually appear for their counties, which will inspire the youth countrywide and not just in locations where this is played

i can’t see how that would not work. Show the t20 on BBC2 or on Sundays like the old Sunday league. When I was a kid, the Sunday league was on, when it finished we went out and tried to play like that up hylton road fields

it can and should be done.

I am talking about a fan like me who has no association with a certain team and like to watch cricket,

I really really enjoy watching the blast and the IPL as really enjoy short format cricket.

So if I likes watching them then of course I am going to like watching something more or less the same.
