The Hundred 2022 Match Thread

I think Wales once had a franchise version of rugby union that failed.

If they don't take an interest in the rugby version what hope does cricket have in Wales?

Still, the ECB know best.

You can’t just give up on Wales, it’s a massive market (and yes, I know you could argue that they have done that already in 10 other areas).

If they get a decent team and market it well there’s a huge opportunity to grow the game.

Looked at the teams currently playing on the BBC Website (Spirit v Fire) and the first thing that popped into my head was Norman Greenbaum v Crazy World of Athur Brown.

Now we are into the second year, are there any figures showing

1 increased crowds around the country

2 greater uptake at all ages below 18

3 more interest in county teams in areas that don’t have a franchise

Fair questions that I would love to see answered

Big market but a shit one. Doesn’t matter what Cricket, Fire or Glamorgan does, it’ll always be a distant third. Rugby and Football are too far ahead and have been for decades.

Shame really as the ones that do like it are very passionate. Used to play with a Welsh lad and it's always a decent turnout from the locals for England games, and a good atmosphere in the city. You can tell international sport is taking place, which you can't really say about any of the English cities that host games really. The Welsh club scene seems like a really good community as well.

Finishing next week, I read today

Top team straight to the final, the next two in a semi next Friday

Who are the top three?

Agreed. But cricket will always be second to other places, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try and grow it.

Cricket is a brilliant sport. It just needs pushes in front of people’s faces and they’ll enjoy it.

Morgan out twice this in the space of a few games to a run out from the non-striker’s end. Seems to have absolutely no luck.

Will be a hard score to defend this.

Watching a game now. Is it me or is every game just one sided shit?

Tournament has turned a bit shit. Seems to be a few bigger players dropping out like Livingstone and Buttler, no idea why, maybe they just cba with the tournament.

Similar-ish to last year when the internationals etc were away, just seems worse this year.
