The Hundred 2022 Match Thread

To my shame I've watched most of this year's (men's) games with heavy use of the fast forward button and several deleted unwatched games.

The cricket has been terrible. Horrible scratchy messy and low quality to watch.

A mixture of journeymen, fat blokes, kids, limited sloggers and a few star names (though a few of those packed it in after a week) who largely failed to achieve much; delivering desperate cricket.

Most games followed a similar pattern. The top 3-4 decent "batters" (fuck off) whacked a few sixes and fours in the powerplay then everything slowed down as wickets fell because the "batters" didn't have the talent to hit boundaries and the bowlers had the easiest shift they ever did. Wayward bowling not punished. Slower balls rarely picked even though they're every other ball. Free hits swiped at and missed. Scratchy singles for 60 balls straight.

Most first innings setting 150-160, most second innings falling well short. Few close contests.

The odious Currans, performing with typical mediocrity.

Eoin Morgan can stick his floppy hat up his arse.

Plastic brands, plastic fans.

A hateful tournament with no quality or redeeming features. Thank God it's done. A crucial and deciding Test Match and our County Championship to look forward to this month.

Fuck the ECB.
Errr, excuse me. It was a super fantastic tournament with world class superstars playing the mostest world class big shots ever ever ever. The commentators reminded you of that during every game, you silly goose.

Well they’ve now had 2 seasons to assess its viability. I would hope that the ECB bean counters will be telling them where it’s heading and where they will be heading as a business if it continues. We live in hope.

And always "to a packed house"

They claimed yesterday was a sell out but there were hundreds of empty seats visible

Might just be me, but felt this year’s was a bit flat compared to last. Started well but dwindled.

I was all for it, but don’t see the point in another year unless they make some big changes.

Wasn’t just you. Me and the bairn were exactly the same.

It needs folded and the money poured into the blast.

Almost a 30 million loss which doesn't include start up costs.

I think season 2 has been weak - I have NR followed it as much - but the losses were forecast to be fair, as an investment in the brand. Same with all franchise comps I think.

If the viewing figures have tanked that’ll be the worry, although thinks like the amount of clashes with PL games are relevant.

It’s a massive blow not getting the top T20 players in the world playing in it.

It has to be a higher standard of player!!

Having just a 8 side competition should have meant it had quality in abundance right throughout each side, by the best English players playing alongside top talent from abroad, in a similar way it which happens in the IPL.

Most cricket fans imo have always wanted to watch top top players pitting their wits against each other.

And the players involved have not been the calibre expected.
