Is homegrown the UK or just England?

England and Wales.

Who is u21 next year? Rigg is, is anyone else

Think anyone born after 1st of January 2005 will qualify as U21 for next season so Rigg, Talbi, Ta Bi and Mayenda are all U21 for next season.I thought Sadiki would be but he just misses out I think. I’d expect a couple of youngsters to be signed and to see a couple promoted from U21 side.

Ta Bi is already 21. The other 2 turn 21 in May. Is that how it works? If so sadiki turned 21 in December.

Yeah he just misses out as the cutoff is Jan 1st. We got away with Habib being both just after NYD this year.

Makes sense. Well it doesnt but its as good a cut off as any.

So....since mayenda will count as u21 next season does that mean hell have played enough seasons to be homegrown or is that defined by the actual birthday?

It’s three full seasons in the academy before the end of the season you turn 21 so I think he just misses out as he’s 21 in May but there seems to be examples of other players that do qualify with similar circumstances so still open to debate.

I wonder why one counts as a season and the other counts as a calendar year. Seems strange.
