The Greatest Game (2019 WC Documentary)

WCC

Midfield
This seems to have gone under the radar but was released yesterday on Sky.

Very good watch alot of players and coaches talking us through the triumph.

You can still see on other forums how much it really hurts, for some reason, India supporters. They don't like being reminded that England gave them a good scudding along the way though.

I can also remember during the tournament on a forum a simple question was asked who would win the World Cup. The default answer from the subcontinental posters was "Not England."

I think winning it the way we did, by an obscure competition law that nobody knew existed, blew their minds, after being taken in for years by hype and bullshit from their broadcasters, media and BCCI.

Find it hilarious the way they go on about the way we won. The rules were/are the rules. Doesn’t matter that nobody knew about them

What struck me watching the documentary was the last ball of the NZ innings… Archer bouncer, batsman ducks and the ball goes through to Buttler for a dot.

Had the batsmen lived by Eoin Morgan’s theory of sacrificing batting averages by trying for a bye that could have made the difference. Barest of all margins and all that.

Was great to hear some proper NE accents on the doc too, away from the stereotype of old public schoolboys playing on the village green.
