Fantastic for the game seeing the smaller counties thrive.

However I think cricket in Durham will be more popular from 2020 onwards than it is now, due to BBC involvement. 4K tonight-ish I'm guessing?
3700 was mentioned in the match thread.

I'm expecting around six or seven thousand on sunday

Aren't the new franchises separate entities to the clubs? So they will form their own teams cherry picking from the blast making the blast the second tier competition? I don't know because I haven't been following the developments that closely.

That's correct. So they pick and choose from the ten counties who are not allowed to play in the 100.

Personally I have no doubt this will lead to the ten, having all their best talent poached by the counties deemed worthy of playing in the 100.

The laughable statement the FTECB that England players will not be able to participate, despite the aim being to raise their profile, as apparently their mythical target audience, don't know who Joe Root and Ben Stokes are anyway.

That's changed and England players will now be available, at least for a part of it.

In theory could they pick from counties within the 100 tournament i.e. could a player choose a different franchise than their county?

Yes. That's going to cause big problems but it's all about the cash for the FTECB.

Their aim is grow the game. To do that, they will leave huge areas of the country without a team to actually go to see.

Yes they are going to show some games on the BBC but once that is finished where are the kids from the north east, having watched that, then say they want to go to see it live, need to travel to Leeds

The simple, straightforward solution is to market the T20 blast and show that on the BBC
