Old hat now though. Just horror production techniques that were fashionable back then. Before that they used simple darkness to scare folk in films like Revenge of the Cat people. It proved more effective than single frame subliminal shots ever since.

Do you mean Curse of the Cat People, the sequel to Cat People? Possibly not the best example as it has little connection to the first film and is more fantasy than horror. The original is of course a masterpiece of understated horror.

Obviously doesn’t have the kind of impact it did back when it was first released in 1973, but still recognised as an enduring iconic horror film.

Just been re-released to celebrate its 50th anniversary - 50 years man! And it’s still talked about to this day.

Problem is a lot of people going into it expecting it to be like a modern jumpscare horror e.g. Conjuring

Great movie with fantastic performances all around like
