Could argue that why should armchair fans get it for free, when "proper" fans shell out a fair wedge of cash to go to a live game

It also depends on where you live. If you live in London and support Sunderland, it's a bit more difficult to get to every home. So live TV is important. There's also the fact that not everyone can get a ticket.

But more games are been shown on subscription TV. If someone wants to watch a Champions League game they have to pay to watch it.

I might be wrong here but was Southwell/Wolverhampton on a Tuesday night ever shown on Channel 4 back in the day?

ITV probably show more racing now thanks to the Sunday Series, Racing League, more races at Cheltenham on free to air. Every Saturday we get 7 races on live tv to feed the ITV7. Racing has much bigger issues than the drop in free to air racing, tickets costing north of £50 for any half big day for what is really 30 minutes of racing, drinks costing £8 a pint and a disgusting burger costing £10 all whilst you are basically locked in for 6/7 hours. Then add in the fact they have sold their soul to show terrible racing throughout the winter to fund the bookies which in turn means we have horses racing who are rated in the 40's that shouldnt ever be born nevermind racing.

ITV racing coverage is excellent imo much better than BBC or channel 4, although used to enjoy Morning Line when it was on C4.

The BBC or another terrestrial channel should try and get the EFL and market it well. There aren't many dead rubbers like there is in the Premier League by this stage if the season. The issue with the BBC is they tend to not market the coverage they have well and the coverage tends to be poor. The ITV racing have great pundits and even the "in the crowd" segments break up the serious stuff well too.

Completely different set of fans imo, it's why the 3pm blackout is daft. If you're a match-going fan, you're not going to choose watching it at home (if it's a reasonable kick off time) over attending in person.

Not sure about that. I watch a lot of non-league on a Saturday afternoon. But if I could watch Sunderland away on TV in the 3pm slot, I'd probably choose that ahead of going to Spennymoor. So the Queen's Head gets my money instead of a football club.

Having said that, I've more or less given up watching televised games apart from SAFC. Doesn't grab my interest anymore the way it did back in the day. I used to reckon a Sunday spent in the pub with three or four games back-to-back was a perfect day out; today I'd rather spend time with the bairn.

One of the things about the premier League is we absolutely must keep the collective agreement, so every club still gets a minimum amount so we are not run like Scotland or Spain.

It's the best thing about the premier league where everyone gets a fair share.

My worry is that if we do go to a netflix style , and every game is shown. The bigger clubs will try and push for a bigger share of the money.

I don't think it would change anything really, as the people that use a fire stick now will continue to use a fire stick no matter what the options are.
