The booing at full time

Last season hasn’t been forgot about because it was a monumental failure.

The excuses last season won’t carry this year. Best get your thinking cap on for some new ones

What was there to applaud yesterday exactly?

People would stand clapping like seals if we were 5-0 down.

His system is one that excludes our best player
Are you really that clueless, don’t need any excuses , we are 1 game into the season, that’s 1 game into the season incase you didn’t catch it the first time

Jack Ross should have been sacked after he failed to get us promotion last season. His negativity and shite tactics/formations cost us promotion last season, however anyone who complained was accused of being a bedwetter.

There has been nothing in preseason or yesterday to suggest he has learnt any lessons. It was still horrifically negative, and his substitutions were shocking.

It’s been poor for pretty much all of 2019. So yes, yesterday may have been the 1st game of the season but it was far from being the 1st game of the shite Jack Ross is serving up

The owners had a 2 year plan, so last season wasn’t a failure to them, love how people just assume no lessons have been learnt from last season because we have drawn 1 game!!
It wasn't because we drew yesterday, why people (myself included) are saying, little or nothing has changed, and lessons not learned from last season.
It was because we were toothless up front again, created little again, the defence was a mess again, even basic skills like accurately passing a ball to a colleague, was beyond some of our players, again yesterday.
Did you see the amount of crosses in the first half, that were hit way too deep, or went flying straight into the fans in the South Stand ?
We were, at least in the first half, outplayed and out-thought by an Oxford team who looked far sharper, and far more dangerous than we did in attack, and could have been three goals up by half time.
These are the reasons why people are saying nothing has changed and lessons not learned, from last season.
Started five players yesterday who weren't here for any of the previous, but 'nothings changed.' Whatever.
Oxford also fielded new players yesterday, but they looked a lot better than we did, especially in attack.
They were also better organised and coped quite easily, with what little "threat" we carried.

His substitutions were shocking !?? What bringing on 3 of our best players!!!

Bringing on Watmore 1st and leaving Maguire until 9 minutes off the end.

The only thing that changed yesterday since the end of last season was the formation. A formation which excludes our best player

Your points are far. I'm not suggesting it was brilliant by any stretch. I just can't write off a season after one game, and there's a whole swat of people doing that. There's enogh turnover I'm willing to have a degree of patience, especially given a couple of our more creative players aren't fit enough yet for more than late sub appearances.

I totally agree.
It's only the first game of the season, and there's still a long way to go, until the end of the season.
I certainly wouldn't write the season off, after just one game, as there's still time to improve, in most areas of the pitch.
I think most supporters, were hoping for some positive signs of improvement in the football we play, but were left disappointed again, after witnessing another game, where we struggled to deal with the opposition's attack, and struggled to create goal scoring chances, and we're too static and laboured in most areas of the pitch.
Our build up play is slow, and we usually over-complicate things and slow the game down, by taking too many touches of the ball, or the ball invariably goes backwards, or sideways, then backwards, and as the players and space gets closed down, we panic and usually end up hoofing the ball into our forwards, at a height which makes controlling the ball, difficult.
I would love to see our players, playing fast incisive football along the deck, instead of taking half a dozen passes to get from A to B.
We rarely see a defence splitting pass, played along the deck, for our attackers to run onto and score.
Oxford were more imaginative in their build up play, and cut us open in defence, a number of times in the first half, by playing some excellent, quick one-two's, in the final third of the pitch and on the edge of our box, which created space for their players to run into, which in turn, created opportunities for them in front of goal.
Maybe I'm hoping for too much, from our players and manager, to come up with a formula, that will see us winning more games this season, and also entertaining the fans in the process.

Shouldn’t boo? I paid money to watch that shite...

I wouldnt boo if we had 11 players all trying for the win but at least half the team simply couldn’t be bothered today.

You can boo if you want as you paid your money. Personally I wouldn't have booed if I was there. Just swore silently under my breath as I did on Saturday watching the game on SAFSEE. (I don't live in UK at the moment.)

But it's ridiculous to say half the side weren't even trying. Hume's crossing for example was very poor, but are you seriously saying you think he wasn't trying to put a good cross in?

Limited ability, yes. Limited effort, no.

Thankfully the away support has more patience.

So shouldn’t see a repeat after the Ipswich game.

The same away support that was up in arms after a 4-0 defeat at Reading ?
It was the away fans reaction at Reading, that was the catalyst for change.
The manager at that time (Reidy, iirc) was forced into making changes that seen us eventually gain promotion that season.

The most patient of fans, will eventually show their displeasure, when it becomes obvious that we're not improving.
Not just our fans. Any fans will react to continued poor performances.

Oxford also had new players in their team yesterday, but they played better football than we did, and looked much more dangerous in attack than we did, especially in the first half.
We looked disjointed and short on creativity again.
Hume in particular was all over the place, and it was little wonder, Oxford got so much joy down their right wing yesterday.
Cross after cross, from our left and right side, was hit too deep or simply sailed straight into the South Stand.
Yes, I realise we are a 3rd tier team, with 3rd tier players, but from what I seen yesterday, nothing much has changed from the second half of last season.
Creativity was lacking, we lacked cohesion, and even basic skills, such as passing a ball accurately to a colleague, looked beyond one or two players, yesterday.
We looked toothless up front, and the defence was at sixes and sevens.
Oxford could have been out of sight by half time, (they missed a sitter, scored one, and had what looked like a good headed goal, disallowed)
I know, that no team has ever won the league, or been relegated in August, so we still have plenty of time, to hopefully get any problems in midfield, defence, and attack, ironed out, but we really do need to improve on yesterday's result, and performance, and quickly.

Good post

The booing is the least of my concerns on the game. As others have said, it became glaringly obvious that Jack Ross' tactics, are at best woeful.

There was barely any booing at all, some right precious fuckers on here at times. Mentality of some of our fans is so poor, it's like a cult - anything said against the club/manager/players etc and it's a complete travesty.

I could hardly hear any booing when I came out at the end ( 8 pints) yet, when I watched the football league show the booing was very notable. I reckon the football league show had dubbed the sound effects so that the booing was more prevalent.

Wouldn’t have minded so much bringing watmore on first if it looked like he had seen a weakness and was exploiting with him or had a plan. Instead watmore came on and had played in three positions within 15 minutes of coming on.
Ross hasn’t a clue was just putting players on and hoping for the best with no game plan whatsoever
