The big positive today

its mental that we've gone from not conceding many and struggling to score.
to conceding 4 soft goals but scoring 3 against one of the best teams in the league - away from home.
But this is a young side evolving and trying something a little different now we are safe.
i think the evolution of the game model is the priority rather than Europe - and i don't have an issue with that

Agreed, begs the question, are we too one-dimensional with Brobbey up front? Everyone knows by now how we play with Brobbey, so could Wilson change his game to give us a bit of something different to his usual game, and maybe ' beef up' his play to add a bit of physical presence to his performance. I like Wilson's style, but I agree he won't stay as 2nd fiddle when he can be main man at another club.
I think it can be said that Brobbey also won’t want a lesser role so we are at an awkward moment I think with the strikers. Then add in Mayenda who let’s face it is more of a cheerleader these days and something needs to change. It is a squad game and players within it bring something different. I saw a post earlier suggesting we still play the same way when Wilson comes on that suits Brobbey and thus renders him as a spare part. Yesterday the game was wide open and suited Wilson,,,,unfortunately it also suited the counter attack of Villa as well.
3 excellent goals from 3 different players in a season where goals have been our biggest problem.

With our first team CB partnership, we win that game today.

Very unlucky that Diarra didn’t score also, he did everything right but it was a world class save from one of the world’s best one on one keepers.

Rigg’s goal was world class, the touch and finish. If he carries on playing with this kind of confidence it’ll be like a new signing.
After being in a huff yesterday I have woke up this morning with more of a positive feeling on the game and thought it more important to take the positives from it and remove the emotion, which is difficult. Yes we scored some crackers to be truthful and could have snatched it at the end. As for Diarra yes he made the wrong decision which has ultimately cost us the game, but for him personally he played very well again yesterday and is starting to look like the player we hoped he was. I’m glad my vitriol yesterday was over the decision and not the player in whole as to be honest he has been great lately. He will learn from it.

He done absolutly nothing right he tried to look cool what are you on about he could of rolled that to the right to talbi for a tap in or hit it low with power he telegraphed it to the keeper

Lovely to see people in happy chappy mode but we came back to 3-3 and had a gilt edge chance to win it. I'm f***ing devastated.
Most thought this season would be a relegation battle. We've just lost away at villa who are fourth, away from home, in a 4-3 thriller to an injury time goal.

I've been devastated in life many times, but this wasn't one

All three goals came from lads playing in the Championship last season too.

My take on it is that RLB has kept it tight most of the season, getting the points needed to stay up. Now he has released the shackles a bit and going for it.

Think it proved that we can and should be a bit more direct at times. We have players who can open a team up with one direct pass forward instead of knocking it side to side. We can be a bit slow and ponderous with our passing at times, so it was nice to see us being so quick and direct, and get the rewards from it.

I really wish Regis would try Wilson and Brobbey together. They'd be a right handful against any of those teams in our remaining games.

Big positives for me, were Rigg, Hume and Isidor, getting on the score sheet, today. (They all played in our Championship campaign, last season)

Another big positive, was the never say die attitude, and immense character shown by The Lads, to keep believing they could get something from the game, even at 1-3 down, and going into the closing minutes of the game.

Just listen to yourselves (I mean this positively).
All talking about losing 4-3 at Villa and fine margins.

Beating Tottenham last week.

Ffs what a season and progress. The League Table doesn’t lie and it’s a pressured dog fight for that last relegation place and you are not even in it.

You will always be welcome at Grimsby amongst the miserable carrot crunching bastards.🤣
Hope all is right with you mate.

I couldnt have put it better myself ...great game to watch...Rigg is getting better game by game

We could have played hume mukiele alderete reinaldo and i think we'd win that.

We might have won it playing mukiele geetruida alderete reinaldo anarl.

Obviously we'll never know
Reinaldo was the weak link in the back 4, he got caught in possession too many times. I think he looked a bit tired, but I’m sue Villa targeted that side. if Hume had started we might have done better. Most importantly Villa are bang in form and started at 100% at the start of each half and caught us cold twice. That’s why we lost, along with Ballard not being there from the start.

Bet they will all be fired up for the last 5 games.

if you look at all the interviews with Villa players and staff after the game, it speaks volumes about how far we've come.
I doubt anyone fancies playing us these days, and we're coming now with an element of surprise again with post-40 points SAFC game model
We're a 20 a season goalscorer away from being a regular top 8 team in my opinion judging by the fine margins in many of the games we've lost or drawn

09 lost his man for the if the 4 goals which didn't help and it was his defending that led to a one on one they should have scored. I just think we had better options at centre half like

I couldn't be prouder tbh. Even Villa fans are saying we were some of the best they have had there this season.

I'm so conflicted over getting into Europe. I don't think we are anywhere near ready for Thursday night then Sunday games. We aren't and we have to be honest about that. We need another season at this level first.

But then I think why not do it then by gut tells me again it'll mean we spend all next season in a relegation battle. Spurs and Forest are more better established at top fight and look how they haven't been able to cope. I don't want that for us.

i wouldn't compare us to Spurs or Forest
Both have seriously major issues with recruitment - both at player and head coach level recently.
Whereas i'd expect us to have plans for multiple scenarios for recruitment.

I just think we're better equipped for it than they are overall.
