[the ashes] test 3. Manchester

On current batting form we'll do well to match the total, and even if we do, unless Prior and KP play the best they have for about three years we can't score quick enough to leave time for them to bat and us to overtake them. It would take either an absolutely enormous collapse from Oz or incredible display with bat and ball from us to win.
Aye we'll likely bat at a snails pace.

Aim for england will be to bat till sunday evening, and put the aussies in on the last day....

Hmm. Interesting gamble. Two wickets at the close and it will have paid off, but if there's a settled partenrship then it will look somewhat generous.

Good aggression in the round though, especially given where they were two days ago, good drama, c'mon England time to prove yourselves

Do well to bat for two days and 32 overs. Hope we do mind. So long as we draw this Australia can't reclaim the Ashes, again, so that will quash any good feeling from this test I feel.

All very sad

Very courageous to declare, and England need to bat well to make sure they at least draw the game. I'd like the series to still be alive though going into the CLS test.

It is, but they have to win this to win the Ashes so I suppose that probably concentrates the mind towards a more aggressive stance

Mind if they do win here, given how much of a turn over that will be, it will almost be as valuable as evening up the series
