The Ashes - Fifth Test, The Oval

the weather did save England in Manchester but England have won all the key battles and thats what Ashes winners do.
Yes but the Series was closer than people thought it would be at the start. There is not a massive gulf between the 2 sides mainly due to our batting not performing as we had all hoped. Role on the return series in Australia. I think England will win but it will be by a slimmer margin than 3-0.

Definitely. England were the better team across five games by far. I think the fact that we have players who are used to winning has helped a lot.

If you were to select an 11 for this series (based on series performance), the distribution of players would be quite even between the two teams. Admittedly, Haddin gets in by default rather than really deserving it. I reckon it's be 6-5 to England pretty much.

Job done, role on Brisbane!!!

Anyone hear Andy Flower talking to Ward? ducked the question about his future...

Reports surfaced this morning that this may be the case. It may be the gin talking but I'll genuinely be gutted to see him go, a character who spurned the limelight but seems so influential in the background. Cest la vie.

I was there today. Went expecting nowt from the day and had a cracking day's entertainment.

A little bit gutted at the end, but you have to credit the Aussies for at least making it a possibility by declaring at tea. It's just a shame their arses fell out when it could have been an epic end to the whole series.

That's probably because it was more like an ODI than a traditional test match :p
It was a bizarre day.

Went from a potential dull as owt finish to a rain-affected test, to a ODI to a 20-20.

When Pietersen came out, I said to my daughter, "He's going to go shit or bust here". You could just see from when he was fielding he was up for this one. Lovely watching him come from a standing start to sail past Trott's score, and sussing out the field before every shot, then just finding the gaps time after time.
