That second half

king
Influential to being top of the league? With the most goals scored and a good defensive record?

Why would we get rid if he's influencing that?
Dodds must do the half time team talk as its like the lads have had a sleeping pill, yesterday was abysmal, poor decision making all over the park, hopeless passing to players that were in no space and our press ended at the halfway line. since the start of the season when we pressed high and were rewarded for it we have gone back and back and just try to absorb pressure when we should be pressing them and keeping the other team in their own half, about half way through the first half Neil came over to le Briss and we started pressing high and were rewarded with some good play that got the crowd going as we were on the attack, then the second half complete capitulation of pressure to Coventry and they took the impetus from us and leveled the match with two shitty goals.
P.S. At a couple of their corners all of our players were in our 6 yard box with 7 of their players, three Coventry players in the rest of our half and their goalie in the center circle, ball comes in and gets booted out to be booted straight back in, its pathetic and annoying. for goodness sake get one of our players on or near the halfway line then they need to cover him which reduces the log jam in our goal mouth.

Really?

EVERY time you look at Regis sitting down, there's the Mouth-Breathing Moron Dodds, chatting nonsense and gibberish into his ear.

When you see Regis standing alone in the technical area, looking forlorn and miserable, I honestly think that he's just stood there to get out of the way of the idiot that is Dodds....

Imagine having that moron forced on you, and there's nothing you can do to get rid? If that's the case? Which I suspect it is.

"Tremendous" 🤣🤣🤣

Two World class goals put the gloss on a very ordinary performance.
Yep. That's the way I saw it as well. I wasn't feeling comfortable at half time but I was over the moon with the strikes. Surprised at how well people think we played first half. But it's all about opinions

Disagree you watch Brazil every week like,we played well first half can't deny that, second half was the opposite, but to say we were ordinary in the first half is bullshit like.

i agree with you mostly , probably swayed by those 2 great goals.
Still had great chances in 2nd half to finish them off espicially that isador , one on one with the keeper, dont know why he didnt run past him with the ball.
Anyway not a good 2nd half but the meltdown is over the top , look at man city , 2nd half collapse at brighton , these things happen

Absolutely gutted. I had an argument with a poster who said this team is as good as the record promotion team under Reid.
No chance. We used to blow teams away back In that season..
Top 6 is the best we can hope for IMHO.

Devastating to get a point after that 1st half performance

Reid’s team would not have failed to kill off the last 3 games, simply because of experience and squad depth.
We have fantastic quality but not necessarily players at their peak.
When you consider the 4 strikers Reid had only Bridges was ‘learning’ the game but was one season from tearing up the premiership.
Look at the experience of Quinn, Clark, Ball, Melville,
Soon to be Internationals Gray, Phillips.
At their peak Johnstone, Makin, Rae
Not to mention Sorensen in goal and proven goalscorer Dichio.
In summary you could pick two teams from the squad Reid had in 88-89

I think people forget we always let opposition have the ball in front of us even when winning.
They went for it in 2nd half as they had to, risk worked luckily for them as we broke 3 times but each time messed it up. Take one of them and it's 3-1 and a win.
Had to take one of those chances really.
Exactly this. On another day we win that 3-1

What was disappointing was there were two captains on the pitch and we looked leaderless in that second half, Hollywood balls being tried all over the place.
Noticed 09 and Neil having a go at each other a couple of times.
Just watched the highlights. Two great goals from us.
09 out of position for their first goal. Left his man. Drifting towards the ball….again.
Keeper should be coming for that cross for the second. Getting at the least a punch on it.

Near the end when it the players are just hoofing the ball up to the half way line to clear it where there are no Sunderland players is just asking to concede, and then we did.

That sort of shit just isn't good enough to stay in the top 6, let alone try and compete in the PL.

We have the players who can play it out from the back as we do that the majority of most games. So we absolutely deserve to drop points if the best the players can think is 'hoof, defend, hoof, defend...'

Aye we had some chances to finish them off second half but that was very much against the run of play and as a consequence of them throwing caution to the wind.

Don't think there should be a meltdown, but questions should be asked. I'm sure Regis will be analysing what went wrong and as he said himself, we can grow from it.

Great post. We played that second half as if cov were top of the league, and we were near the bottom. We need to have a bit more confidence in ourselves.

Their first was one of those goals that any team can concede, just one of those things.

Second was down to the reshuffle.

More worried about the injuries than the actual performance.

Although I didn't realise Neil was playing until he kicked off in the second half.

Aye good post marra. Head & shoulders above the rest with that squad.

Yep.. my main criticism of the second half was that they changed formation to 3 at the back and pushed the full backs on.. we didn’t react to that and then we got try 2 injuries and should have left Wilson down the middle.. we couldn’t keep possession after that.
