Tetchy help - default email app on iPad

If you use an iPad and click on an email link address e.g. on a web page or in a document, it defaults to iPad’s native mail app. If I don’t want to use that and instead what those links to open in another email app I’ve got set up such as Gmail, how do I change that setting?

I don’t want to use the native email app so it’s not about pointing that to a different email account.

In settings, goto mail, then composing. It's in there somewhere I think.
Hmm, not there anymore on mine (but its on iPad OS so may have changed) do you see it on yours?

Think it's a constraint, I'll just have to be a bit more manual

Aye I've been messing around and not sure it is possible anymore. Maybe in the past it's been a jailbreak only thing. Case of manually copying the email and then opening Gmail I guess.

Or...actually..maybe a way to do it with IFTT or even Siri shortcuts. I'll have a mess around.

Just an issue with Apple products, you can't natively change default apps.
They say it's a security feature but in reality it's just twattishness.

They'll hit a point soon where its deemed unfair to competition etc.
