Test squad for Sri Lanka series

BBC Sport reporting Lawrence will be opening.

Crazy decision for me, his technique is barely test standard let alone opening. Plenty actual openers or number 3’s in county cricket they could have looked at. Bohannon, Wells, Haines, Lees.

They are trying to build a one day team.
Test cricket recently has in the main basically been two one day games stuck together, the name *test* could be removed as what they play nowadays bears no resemblance whatsoever to Test cricket.

The best opener in the country is Jennings -a much improved player from when he last played for England. He can play Bazball but will normally play the situation. Surprised Stokes doesn't favour him-unless he keeps out of selection issues.

The captain was part of the selectors in the past, not sure they are now

Maybe Jennings doesn't play golf.
The like of Jennings and Rew will never play in this England setup.

They could score 2000+ and it wouldn't make a difference.

Lees is probably the only opener that has a chance, but he's not had the same sort of season he did last year.

The below list is a better way to select for England as a batsman instead of runs and average. Interesting to see Yates has scored at 68s while averaging 50+ he's got a chance.

Bet they wish Bedders chose to play for England

I think the concern for Robinson must be that he still gets overlooked despite what you say about Stokes. It wouldn’t fill me with confidence.

Park or Harbour?
Definitely but I think they wanted Smith in before Robinson has had the year he's had.

Robinson could have scored multiple double tons they were still picking Smith.

Have they any plans to bring Jofra archer back
Next year. Want to make sure of his fitness in odis first before putting too much workload
