TEST SERIES :: Zimbabwe v Afghanistan

By the ICC's own rules Afghanistan should be having their full member status revoked and knocked back down to an associate nation as one of the requirements is to have a woman's cricket team, but they are burying their head in the sand on that one. I agree with the ECB for once that any kind of ban or sanction on Afghan cricket should be ICC-led rather than left to individual nation cricket boards to decide.

That's what I was trying to say. If that's right, it's even worse. ICC have rules which Afgans are not adhering to.

If the were knocked back down to associate member, then it becomes a question for their board and people. Do we like cricket enough to change our ways? Or are we happy just middling along playing the odd world cup here and there.

What we have now is a bit of cluster fuck really. Men's team haven't done anything wrong, in fact they are going from strength to strength but at the expense of what? It's not even modernization is it? It f***ing basic human rights.

It can't be underestimated what 'our' part has been in the failed state mind. The Taliban are back there because of our inability to make things stick. It can also be argued that they exist in the first place because of us too.

But you are not just punishing the athletes, you are punishing all sports fans in the country. Dit might be a long shot, but it is probably one of the few levers the international community has to put pressure on this barbaric medieval regime

The military might of the western world couldn’t persuade them, tell me why you think will a load of pen pushers at the International Cricket Council will change that?!
