4. Sachin Tendulkar - India
5. Mahela Jayewardene - Sri Lanka
6. Yuvraj Singh - India
7. Kumar Sangakkara - Sri Lanka (wk)
8. Peter Siddle - Australia
9. Graeme Swann - England
10. James Anderson - England
11. Dale Steyn

11. Dale Steyn

Get rid of Siddle for Zaheer Khan

Sehwag
Cook
Trott
Tendulkar
Kallis
Prior
Johnson (tin hat on)
Swann
Morkel
Steyn
Anderson

Longish tail but top 6 should be enough to do the business. Mitchell Johnson included as the joker in the pack (can be devastating on his day) and Steyn and Morkel as they're the best bowling partnership in world cricket.

Cook
Smith (c) (or Sehwag. Dunno who's been in better form in the last year)
Trott
Tendulkar
Kallis
Bell
Sangakarra (k)
Swann
Kahn
Steyn
Anderson

I guess that rules out Nasser's alter ego being Essex boy.

Sehwag
Cook
Trott
Tendulkar
Jayawardene
Bell
Prior
Swann
Khan
Steyn
Anderson.

Hard choice, plenty of excellent cricketers about.

Aye, Gul's bowled way better than Anderson recently ;)

If Trott and Cook are in how come the best English player since Botham doesn't get a look in?

Disagree with Ajmal (Swann been better) and would probably toss up between Dhoni and Sangakarra. Might even go a bit maverick and get AB De Villiers in there as keeper.

Trott is a Saffer and Broad has missed the last 6 months and Cook is the 2nd best we have produced since Botham

Gul is a far better bowler than Anderson, the problem with Gul is he doesnt play home test matches and plays the vast majority of the rest of them on flat roads in sweltering heat

EB....

Jimmy Anderson has played 57 tests and taken 212 wickets @ 31.10 average (inc 10 x 5wkts & 1 x 10wkts; with a best haul of 7/43.

Umar Gul has played 32 tests and taken 112 wickets @ 35.54 average (inc 4 x 5wkts); with a best haul of 6/135.

No doubt you’ll pull out the conditions (when it suits you). Like when you said Anderson would struggle under clear Aussies skies, and then when he blasted through them you decided it was because the Aussie batsmen were abysmal.

Last time in England, where you’d expect such a good bowler as Gul to exploit what you called perfect bowling conditions: Gul took 4 wickets in the series. Anderson took 11 in one match, and 23 in the series.

Anderson is a good bowler and is better than Gul, which you already know. so stop making yourself look like a tatie just for the sake of it. (you fucked up on the Saffers/England bowling attack debate anarl and havent went back to it i see ;))

1 - Cook

8 - Singh
9 - Steyn
10 - Kahn
11 - Morkel

If Gul went head to head with Anderson on identical wickets he would win.

Bowling on the sub continent is the hardest place to bowl and you know that so stop making yourself look a tit

They did go head to head on identical wickets, (i presume they didnt change wickets when the teams changed over ). its only one series but the three tests in england where Gul took 4 and Anderson took 23

if Gul can only get 4 wickets in bowler friendly England then that says something.

its no shame to be a lesser bowler than the magician that is Anderson ya knar!

hardly Gul fault that the Pakistani keeper is on the take and gets £10k for every dropped catch or something along those lines

Pakistan fielding wouldnt be tolerated at club first team level

They dont play on even playing fields as you know.

You also asked me for my test best XI, I gave you an answer

yo are right, gul would be as good as anderson on any deck if it wasnt for match fixing wickie keepers. sorry, i see that now.

i said englands attack was as good as any about and you decided, in order to argue against that opinion, to name a bloke who doesnt even play test matches and said he had the weapons of shane warne. haway man
