I am trying to connect my xbox one via optical cable to my American Audio G-2422 pro mixer.

I bought the cable today from wilkos which came with an adapter to enable it to plug into a 3.5mm jack, I have tried the headphone jack and the aux in on the mixer with no joy.

I am now stumped, any assistance appreciated.

You can't connect an optical cable into a 3.5mm input as one end is digital and the other analogue

Is this what you bought?

If so that's not a 3.5mm jack, it's a mini toslink connector.
