I don't think it's giving players a rest or not that's the concern - at least for me anyway - it's the potential for more injuries that's worrying. The pitch looks horrific and I wouldn't be surprised if they use some, let's call them "league one tactics".Insane that people want to play a weakened team like, especially when they is no chance we'll go down.
Play our best team, and if players *really* need a rest then give them a week off against Brighton. Because beating Port Vale is more important than beating Brighton![]()
I think some minor tweaks as above - all about getting through and game management for those who are returning from injury, and keeping those fresh ready for the week after.
Rest for the likes of;
Hume
Xhaka
Sadiki
Angulo
Mayenda

Also, maybe we have a better chance of making the semis/final if, for example, Xhaka misses this game and stays fit for the rest of the FA cup campaign?
If we get more injuries we get more injuries. It'll be frustrating but it's one of them things. It's a shame but it's surely a risk worth taking. Doubt anyone will be saying we should be not playing certain players for league matches, just incase they get injured.I don't think it's giving players a rest or not that's the concern - at least for me anyway - it's the potential for more injuries that's worrying. I think we should rest players against Newcastle because it will be a physical game & we don’t want anyone getting injured. Look at poor Dan Burn against us.If we get more injuries we get more injuries. It'll be frustrating but it's one of them things. It's a shame but it's surely a risk worth taking. Obviously he may play a weakened side and we may go through regardless. I just don't think it's worth the gamble.
I’ll jump on this too. We cannot be small minded enough to let this engulf us. It’s extremely important (like a cup final if it makes them twats happy) once the Brighton game is done. But before that we need to concentrate on getting to the next round of the cup & into the top half of the league.Moore

No 1 priority is Mags game
That team should more than hold its own against div 1 relegation candidates
I'd start with Xhaka and bring him off half time if the need arises.Totally agree. Theres an argument that now we're on 40 points with 2 months of the season left that we should focus more on the cup. Just go with our strongest side. Get that xhaka's minutes my need managing but aside from that as strong as possible for me.
Fair enough - we have different opinions. But no one talks about not playing certain players for league games in case they get injured because every league game is really tough. On Sunday we're playing a team who are 10 points adrift at the bottom of league one and have won 2 games at home all season. I would say that it's not a risk we need to take with someone as important as Xhaka because we have good enough players in reserve to beat Port Vale.If we get more injuries we get more injuries. Well, all I’m going to say is I disagree. I think there’ll be a few more agree with meDan Neil should have been recalled imo
Gertruida i’m not convinced of in Xhakas role he was absolutely anonymous on Tuesday night
Stop being silly.Moore

Will be this team in my opinionThis is the FA Cup and we aren't going down.
Let's f***ing go for it!
Ellborg
O'Nien - Ballard - Alderate - Geertruida
Diarra - Xhaka - Le Fee
Talbi - Mayenda - Angulo
SUBS
Moore, Je.Jones, Hester/Lightfoot, Rigg, H.Jones, Aleksic, Whittaker, Geragusian, Isidor
Don’t think we’ve got an option but to play O’Nein. He’ll be one of the first makes on the team sheet given Hume is out.I would like to see a strong bench but lads such as Rigg given a chance and O,nien having another go.
Swap Onien and gertyThe only 2 I'd rest are Xhaka & Ballard
Ellborg
O Nien, Gerty, Omar, Jones
Angulo, Diarra, Le Fee, Rigg Talbi
Mayenda or Isador
If Ellberg is going to be first choice for a while, game time will be useful
Think this will be close to the team. Not sure Xhaka will start so think Rigg will come in. Think Isidor might get the nod up front. The only 2 I'd rest are Xhaka & Ballard

Didn't know when I posted, the 1st to point it out was less of a bellend about it.How many times!
Neither Sadiki nor Hume available due to suspension![]()
