This is a prediction post rather than a wish-for list. I doubt that any combinations of players will work. But I think the first line-up will look like this:

Stokes
Bairstow
Foakes
Ahmed
Robinson
Wood

Hope he’s been working on his golf game instead of wasting his time honing his cricket skills.
 
We’re all thinking along similar lines - unsurprisingly, given the limited range of options. The key decisions seem to be about the choice of seamers and who bats at number three (no one here sees Root agreeing to take on that role).

It does, but it’s the bowling that worries me, particularly.
We have two quicks who can’t be expected to bowl a lot of overs and we know that Stokes won’t bowl. This means we’ll have a five man attack, to include Root as third spinner.

Ahmed will bat 8 like he's a decent bat.

Off the top of my head he averaged 35 last season batting mainly 7. Was his bowling that was shite.

Another reason for him having to play every game, as if were to go with Root as second spinner would be a very long tail.

Only decision to be made will surely be who plays at 9 between Robinson/Wood. Then going forward the rotation of the seamers at 9/11 (unless injury or Brook return)
