Today I stumbled on this long forgotten book, that's seemingly found its way onto google for free.

This is a collection of stories about Sunderland in the 19th century, with vivid attention to the local culture and dialect of the time.

A lot of the tales focus on shipbuilding and maritime life, but there's also more known things in there such as the legend of the Lambton Worm.

A must read for anyone interested in local folklore and literature.
