yes they view it as a very long term growth investment..what else could the view it as?

A legacy project. Build the whole club up to it's potential, with no expectation of big financial returns, maybe make their money back at best.

If they're expecting to make money out of us I hope they have a great strategy to get promotion out of the Championship on a bargain base budget.

so the SD loan doesnt appear anywhere in the safc accounts?
i thought when asked about it he said the safc accountant made him call it a loan?

No. The cash movement up to Madrox is also simply described as a debtor of SAFC, not a loan. The published accounts were clearly put together by Donald's favoured firm (actually in the same office block in Witney), and, to be brutal, their quality leaves a lot to be desired.

So, SD could convert that loan to Madrox into equity in Madrox, but not directly into equity in SAFC?

Yes.

why would it be a debtor to dasafc? surely its a transaction between sjd holdings and madrox? safc is a group company but....?

what legacy? they are investors...they want long term growth in a market (footbal;) that is expanding..
every owner buys a club for self interest..there are no legacy project people out there..this is what i was saying about people thinking safc is some sort of charity thing..

The upward loan re the parachute payments.

Donald qualified as an accountant, but he's never worked as one (as can be told from some of his comments). Many companies get their accountants to put the statutory accounts together. To be honest, when you're trying to manage a company, they're pretty much an irrelevance anyway. Quoted companies do their own (eventually you find some numbers amongst all the PR bullshit), but for most companies it's an administrative chore that gets in the way of managing the current year. When I was working, I was far more interested in the current month's management accounts than what was, by then, ancient history.

Why? Seems a sensible decision, why waste their time on preparing statutory accounts? Common practice for companies to outsource their Statutory accounts prep even when they have inhouse accountants.

its just that madrox is basically a holding company..so not much work to do? no employees or anthing?

Anything happening then? Was supposed to be today according to the circle jerk over on not606.*

*before anyone accuses me of wanting it to not happen, I'll be delighted if I jump in my car tonight and total sport is relaying the news its happened.

investment means in wenglish deploying capital for a future return..
safc fans thinkthe club is some sort of charity thing..these guys arent in it for the charity..
There's much easier ways to earn money than to own a football club, putting it in a 10 year ISA would pay out much more than anything they'll get back from us, I'm sure they want value for money and to protect themselves but I don't believe anyone willingly buys a club and thinks it's an investment.

TV money is about to plateau imo which is why the big clubs want a bigger share. Things will stop being about growth and become profitable.

so by your logic stewrat donald didnt buy SAFC as an investment?

The americans dont have access to Isa accounts..and the amounts of money involved are way higher than any relevant tax allowances.

There are easier ways to make money..but the best way not to los emoney is to have a diversified prortoflio..and safc is diversifed relative to anything else they have.

Of course he did but he did it because he likes football as well as wants to make money. The Americans will be the same and I agree they won't want to lose money but I don't think they'll be expecting to make much either and buying a football club is exciting as fuck no matter who you are.
