Takeover Rumours

You'd be surprised. Arnold Weinstock, who was running GEC when I worked for one of their subsidiaries in the early 90s, personally scrutinised every directors expense claims (both main board and subsidiaries) and was ruthless about disallowing anything he felt inappropriate. Once, his FD and right hand man tried to claim £50 for losses made on the outcome of playing golf with business contacts. Arnold red-pencilled it with the comment "Am I to presume from this that, had you won, you would have given the winnings to the GEC?". They get to be billionaires precisely because they do sweat the small stuff. Firstly, because it sets a good example to other employee, and secondly, because it establishes a culture of getting things right from day one. Arnold also used to refuse to sanction any redundancy payment which exceeded the statutory maximum.

Certainly not on the same level as Weinstock, but back in the day Tom Cowie, who then owned an expanding garage group, three finance companies, a bank and an insurance brokerage, still found time to ferret through filing cabinets (pre-computer days) after all the staff had gone home.

That was one way he kept his finger on the pulse of what what going on in his business empire. His attention to detail, not to mention his parsimony, was legendary.

You also said he would be in the first team this season. Cant have ya cake and eat it marra. Make ya mind up

He would have had an opportunity if he wasn't injured.

Let's not sway this conversation though. I specifically said he would move to the exact club be went too. This was before a single person mentioned it on here.

But aye. Your right....

I do think it's utterly bizarre that whenever there's anyone on the board with insider info you get other posters basically hounding them off the board, what do they get out of it?
I personally would not post any itk info unless i trusted the source of the information. As long as people post in good faith i aint got a problem its the fekkers who make shit up that get my goat!lots of people on here know reiver and i know he trusts his source so I am busy looking at monorail designs and saving up so i can afford a season ticket into my dotage.......if half of what reivers source is stating is true we are in for some long awaied sunshine at the SOL to brighten our gloomy years and it couldnt happen to a better club or a better set of fans !.......lets hope our just dessert is as dellicious as the apertizer!

I've finally caught up with the thread and I can see by the notifications I'm getting (I was posting in reply to posts of where I was in the thread) where other posters are up too

Overnight post reading was ait shit really as all I saw was a few fun police and mood hoovers and the only 'delusion' was Wenger being mentioned. Oh aye Reiver spouted more "look at me" bollocks :lol:

even if the takeover’s not today I at least want blurry, pixely photo’s of the boyos, photos from choppers, reports on what they’re having for dessert etc to keep us ticking owa’. I done a once round the stadium yestda’ looking for the c*nts.

I find Japanese porn good for blurry pictures of choppers

He always does it. Will pretend his little cryptic messages were hints at what js announced when it happens too

The lad definitely does get to hear some things mind. Mind I do agree that, whatever you've heard, there's not much point posting about it if you've got to be so vague that it's literally just "good times ahead" or similar with no further information. Here's poor old Reiver giving names and as much detail as he can possibly give, then you get "good times" and a refusal to expand on that! Still, that's a minor irritation, I know he gets to hear things so if he's positive that's good, Reiver is positive about it, a lad I know who worked at the club is positive that it's done, so I'm happy that it's just a waiting game now

One of the first things I stated/predicted was that, rather than jobs being lost, jobs would be created both in the club, around the club and in the town.

Absolutely nothing like that was even suggested in the media but it's already happening, and that's before any announcement.

Of course we can't believe this is all happening but let me post this for no good reason ....

""PSG could be in a league of their own for the next five to 10 years," Liverpool's French director of football Damien Comolli told BBC Sport, while Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi simply said: "They are now on another planet."
The mystery is why it has taken so long for PSG, who last won the title in 1994, to attract serious money."
