Takeover Rumours

@RascaI whats the crack?

As is well documented, 5 or 6 years ago we was stuck in a rut, we’d just had 6 seasons of avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth, watching slow boring negative football, from a host of different managers, who were only ever going to be short term because we was never really going to compete with our budget, season after season we signed players no one else wanted at our level, journey men, lower league cheap shit and so on, our fan base was disillusioned to say the least.

At one point we’d just sacked yet another manager, yet again we was scraping out a relegation battle, and the supporters trust got a meeting with our then owner Patrick Cryne (PC), he asked what did the supporters want from the club, our budget is tiny we’re always going to be scrapping around near the foot of the championship and we obviously can’t spend what we don’t have, to a man the response from all our fans was the same.

We wanted to watch attacking football, played the right way with pace and power, pass and move with tricky wingers, just basically attractive football, we wanted to see young hungry players who wanted to play for the shirt and themselves who strived to play for better bigger clubs not just happy to take a wage, but had fire in their belly and belief in themselves and a strong work ethic, Once PC heard this and realised the fans didn’t care what league we was in as long as we got the above, he set about doing as the fans asked.

He set up a recruitment comity scouts, agents, and so on, who only brought in the type of player we wanted to see, he employed a head coach to do what the fans wanted, it worked pretty quickly within a season or so we was watching good football and winning twice at Wembley, we sold players for good money for the first time in years. We was self sufficient and playing well with good young players.

When PC took ill and realised he wasn’t going to be here much longer, he set about trying to make sure the club would continue after his passing he offered his son the role but it was too much for him. So he stated looking for buyers, it wasn’t going to be easy because the structure the fans wanted and got had to be continued, he/we wanted new ownership that would continue the way we were. running on the money the club generated, not cheating ffp and achieving hollow victories, but doing things the right way with hard work. Giving the club a very stable future, luckily he found a consortium willing to operate the way the fans wanted, the son of PC James was made a part owner within the consortium to make sure this was the case, and it still is to this day.

Lied through my teeth to Sunderland supporters, raised everyone's hope about the takeover and promised them a monorail ...

... all to 'bask in the glory' of being an ITK on a chat forum :lol:
Don't rise to it man. Your telling what you know / believe to be true in the best of faith. That's not being a WUM in any shape or form. Keep doing what your doing Riv....................................but if we don't get that bloody Monorail...................................:lol:
