Takeover Rumours

Well it's quite a while since I came on here. But prompted by an uninvited and idiotic intervention from a dark side follower earlier today at work, I thought I'd have a look on here and see what he might have been getting so hot under the collar about. I have been absurdly busy recently and have missed all the rumours that have seemingly been flying around lately.

So now I see!

It may all of course come to nought or not much, but it does make life a bit interesting. Another lad at work, also of the unfortunate persuasion but very sound indeed, sees the prospect as a great thing for us if it happens, and actually possibly a good thing for them as well, being of the mind that Ashley, whom he neither loathes nor loves, might respond and eventually drop his price and secure a better owner for them. We both agreed mind, that what was incomprehensible is why any rich bloke would want to buy any football club in any case, but that's another matter.

We'll see soon I suppose. We are, as it stands now, in a whole better world than we might have been in not too long back. The current owners are IMHO to be greatly thanked for this return to sanity and some sort of financial balance. It will not have been easy and it seems to me that it was probably one of those things that looks a lot easier now, once it has been done.

If they manage to arrange a deal of this kind, I hope they make a profit. They will have deserved it, as they will deserve plenty more thanks from us.

It's not about the money for me, we've already had a billionaire owner who pissed away millions and look where we ended up. It's all about the strategy, that's what I want to see - a winning philosophy going right through the club. One thing we need to sort is how we recruit players as we're currently still all over the place. If I was them I'd forget about the big money signings and instead target the best young players in the lower leagues, players who could grow with the club. For one thing, they cost less money and secondly you get the chance to mould a team over a period of time that could end up competing in the Premier League. At that point you then spend some money on quality additions. Bournemouth did it (their whole back four, until recently when they bought Ake, were with them from League One to Premier League), Southampton did it (the likes of Fonte, Schneiderlin and others went from L1 to PL), Sheff Utd are doing it now with a number of their squad. It's not impossible with the right strategy and key appointments in key positions. That's what I'll be looking for if this group take over, not how much dosh they spunk. I also think it's highly unlikely that Michael Dell will be investing much, if any, of his fortune in us but let's see.
And the right manager at the helm to guide them all the way through. Not saying Ross isn't but I do have my doubts as to how far he could realistically take us...

I reckon with sterling down the shitter because of brexit, the club being in the third division has caused a situation where we are irresistible to american investors. You can’t get this type of infrastructure normally at these prices. I can imagine they are buying sterling large to lock in the fx rate as well, I hope! Maybe they think we will become the 51st state and are getting in early.

That’s what I wondered.

I agree with you completely. The recruitment has to change and SD has to stay. I’m not sure about the manager but he simply has to produce.
If this comes off then SD and CM deserve the freedom of the city and should never have to pay for a drink again.

Incredible and why not allow yourselves to get a tad excited.
As I have said many times before there are certain clubs that have real potential for a takeover and you are one of them. You already have an excellent ground but your support would be a main driver for any key investors.
Maybe this is your big chance to make it back to the big time I hope so.
When you start the climb and reach the summit think of us down at the base living in hope.
Rather ironic isn’t it the day it was openly mentioned in the news Bury’s survival hangs by the fingertips.
I guess that’s football but the most passionate and loyal fans have mutual respect for others don’t they?

This just sounds a massive opportunity. Of course I am pleased for you but I can be excused for feeling a little envious.
