Takeover Rumours

If it does happen, just watch the many knackers on here spouting off about buying Premier League first teamers on big wages for big fees totally IGNORING the fact we are bound by financial fair play (or whatever the equivalent is down in the depths of the EFL).
It’s going to happen, in spite of the shit state it got us into, you know it will happen. Fortunately having just read MSDs company ethos I don’t think it will make any difference how much the wantitnows kick off. The club will be grown sensibly and sustainably over a period of time. These lads are in for the long haul.
My hope is that we leave the whinging and demanding and having a pop at the owners to the muppets up the road. They are much better suited to it and have had more practice than we have.
Just a thought for the less patient in our midst.
There’s a reason the new lads swerved the mags 11 years ago.

Well, i listened to him Last night at the RAWA AGM and while others seemed happy he did swerved a couple of questions and did not give anything away.. He very amiable and he might be a nice lad and all that but he is not the man to take this club forward... He did blame SD for being excitable when he was speaking about who was telling the truth on transfers (1 in or 3), him or SD
SD even said himself he is exciteable on transfers..
Thing is though weve been shite for years man ,i dont believe any club would have had better gates than us with what we had to put up with.We will now make our way back to how we werein 30/40s htl
given how many freebies we had in he premier league..what was our average gate really?

I know this sounds somewhat daft and a bit soft of me but I dont care. Hoping this all comes off and we see the scarf etc as I dont want to get too ecstatic about things until the deal is done (like a house sale falling through), but when I resd this line in the Chronicle I got a huge lump in my throat.. "Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has agreed to sell a majority stake in the football club to four US men who would collectively make the Black Cats one of the richest-owned clubs in the world. "
I think what did it is thinking about those friends and family and of course SMB'ers who are no longer with us, that always hoped. If any real success comes of this Ill raise many a glass to them all. Haaway

Actually points will get us promoted and they will have to be acquired by broadly the same players who are in the squad now. I doubt that changes in the boardroom will make them better players.

That said, I have always been confident that this squad, with some minor tweaks (left-back, etc.), is good enough to achieve the desired objective, particularly with Jack Ross managing them.

Think you’re taking my comment too literally mate ;) Agree with you by the way

Do we have the richest owner in world football now? From what I can see Dell is richer than Sheik Mansour and the Red Bull guy.

Mind I'm under no illusions that we're suddenly going to be Man City, but still exciting stuff.

morning dilli, please forgive my ignorance but I have missed most of this being 'out of the office' so to speak. Whats the crack?

That’s how investment companies work. Same way Ellis’ company worked initially. Buy for £50m sell for £300m when in the PL.

I don’t think they’ll sell that quickly.

Their entire investment ethos is for long term investments with increased returns over time.

If they buy for £40-£50 million, invest, say, £100 million to get the club promoted to the Premier League and stable then the income and profits that can be generated from that alone would outstrip any need to sell for £300 million.
Apparently in the new version of "Football Manager" your computer makes a bid to take over your club.

“In Soviet Russia, football manages you”

Fair play to them for realising that they are out of their depth and selling us to owners who are worthy of owning a club of our size. No doubt some on here will be sad we won't be competing in league one soon.
I don't think they were out of their depth. They've come on board and worked their socks off in taking the club back to basics and questioning every operating cost etc. They've been a breath of fresh air in IMO. I think they always new that they didn't have the capital to moves us forward in the longer term. At the end of the day SD is a businessman and if he takes 20-30 million with him then fair play. He's gone about it the right way and he's been pretty transparent throughout.
