We're about ten minutes from it being claimed that Charlie developed the Oxford Covid vaccine here like.

Given they tried to press release their way through the American drug agency and are now getting their arses handed to them and needing to run another trial, I'd say he may have done their comms strategy!

(sorry to break this bad news - they're in hot water basically, overclaimed and now the regulators don't trust them. Vaccine will not be getting approval in America anytime soon, questionable whether we'll give it - probably shouldn't, but having paraded them around Number 10 the other day...)

The good news is the other two vaccines look more legit.

Mate this thing about CM having anything to do with the running the club over the las 2 years is WAY off the mark.
Those who know the craic will tell you, other than trying to get more through the doors was his input, TRANSFERS SELECTION, ETC and day to day running the club was not his bag.

Whilst people have justifiable reasons to not want SD and CM anywhere near the club. The fact of the matter is that they're going to be in the background when real, football decisions are made.

No one is going to come in and see what they've done and think "yeah, with their experience of 2 years of parachute payments and 3 seasons in League 1 I REALLY need to canvas their opinion on football matters".

They're more or less irrelevant now, just clinging onto small shareholdings in the hope of a windfall.
I honestly don't think we should waste our time worrying about them.

My 2¢: there's a very good reason CM stands out, and that you don't see more PR in football. As you note, part of the PR game is that near-everyone knows it's bullshit. Normally it doesn't matter, if it did they'd no longer be 'PR', they'd be calling themselves something less identifiable as public relations (Community Coherence Strategists or the like).

There are reasons that blatant PR can work for a large corp or political party. Including but not limited to:
- internal/external organisational support for the BS
- lack of opposition/apathy toward the BS
- lack of wider access to the truth

This completely crumples with, for example, SAFC. The 'public' they are trying to BS are the organisation. You can tell shareholders, or the media, that XYZ Ltd are doing well and maybe get away with it, but you can't tell decades-long SAFC fans that SAFC is doing well while selling their academy and languishing in Division 3, and get away with that. There is no apathy. There is access to the truth. There is opposition. There is no support.

Yes, I'm sure the fella who was only in charge of drumming up attendances ends up representing the club at the meetings with fans groups. Maybe that's why he accidentally called fans the "sunderland disease" and "like the drunk girl at the end of the prom" - perfectly understandable considering he was only the ticket guy.

If he does come back, it will be because the new owners, including Dreyfus, want him. Cutting up rough won't change that.
