I don't always agree with CW and he has allowed his pessimism to cloud over the possibility of someone taking us over recently, in the face of obvious signs that something is going on.
But again, I'll just reinforce one thing - I was introduced to a family member of his earlier this year, and I also have a close family member who knows him from school and coincidentally, their work at a very large accountancy firm.
The things I have been told about him, the way he has conducted himself in the face of outright intimidation by Donald and Methven, and the job he has sacrificed to keep the freedom to say these things have earned him my respect, however much I disagree with him on the above.
The biggest takeaway from that article should be the last bit - we're all fans, holding a view one way or another should not be the divisive thing it is now.

Top and bottom of it is, he (and me) have never believed any of their bullshit. They always have been a pair of chancers. This latest takeover or whatever, i will always be sceptical until i see it signed as greedy parasites are always likely to mess it up through sheer greed.

I don't blame you mate. My opinion is that something is going on, but I'd never say 100% until we know more than 1-2 press articles, both of which are light on detail.
For some reason, it's become that unless you say loudly every day that you believe a takeover is happening, you've become part of the DREADED NEGATIVITY!

More this. A good FD has be prepared to be confrontational (in a diplomatic way, of course) at times if what is proposed is financially bonkers. Owners/CEOs tend to take notice of an analysis which shows just how far the risk/reward curve is skewed towards risk.

It’s vomit inducing if you look back at some of Donald and Methvens early interviews. All the false promises, bluster and bullshit they came out with. Fans just wanted change of any description at the time and they took advantage of that. Shame on them.

She was on about £200k p.a. when we were PL. She also didn't start as an accounts clerk - she was recruited as a qualified ACA into the job.

True, but as soon as they say no thank you, he would have been available to others who might have been more amenable to a loan- back arrangement.
It's all moot now, of course.

When all this first kicked off, i personally spoke to someone in the club, which left me in no doubt that the parasite was banking on promotion this year and wasnt interested in selling. If that has changed then fair enough and fingers crossed it goes through, but you just know this greedy chancer is motivated by money.
