I'm the same every time I get a naanbab too, although I'm not daft enough to pay £25 for one.And another thing I forgot to mention I’ve been to the toilet3 times already
today
All the Chinese takeaways round my way have become that salty I’m dehydrated for 3 weeks after. Wake up the next day like you’ve been eating sand.Bog standard Chinese is easily the worst even though it’s usually the cheapest. There is a nice pan Asian restaurant in Low Fell we go to and also order from though that is very decent and a class above most Chinese style takeaway food. Not cheap though. Indian is probably pound for pound the best and most consistent, but aye on the whole it’s not far off eating out prices these days.
That’s the issue up here, you either have generic pizza/kebab takeaway or copy cat Chinese/indian places. All cater for the tastebuds of a middle aged white family. Lebaneat stood out for me but that moved and the plain shawarma place doubled up on locations.Got some cracking takeaways round my way. Everything from Eritrean to Lobster. There are some rubbishy ones in there but sometimes cooking for one is annoying and I can't make gyoza or sushi so I order in.
Ordinary Inflation across that period would bring the cost to about 40 quid. Food costs and fuel prices have gone up even more- 38% for food and 45% for fuel so it’s probably not miles out just reflecting the increase in costs. Probably snuck an extra 5-7 quid on to what it should be.Since COVID the prices have become a joke.
Pardon the pun but it will bite them in the arse , loads of people I know do t order them anymore, as an example a Chinese I orders from for years, pre COVID was around £28 .
EXACT SAME ORDER NOW £47.
Na.
That's because it's nearly all Cantonese, which barely uses chillies, adapted to northern English sweet tooth. There's no msg in the majority, else they would taste far better than they do.Chinese is absolutely terrible imo, just sugar and msg. Not proper food
Aye never again likeI'm the same every time I get a naanbab too, although I'm not daft enough to pay £25 for one.
They must all be a proper health hazard like.
If you go on UberEats you will see there is about 24 different takeaways to order from in Park Lane, I am sure 10 of them are Mexican and theyre all the same place. Is the term "ghost takeaway"?The big problem is the delivery companies
Deliveroo and Uber get up to 30% commission for each dish. If you’re in a big city like London, you can’t really get away with being collection-only. Then there’s additional fees on top of that if you want to be a featured business, and of course the huge cost of running a hospitality business in general.
Also, it’s now well documented that a lot of massive corporations like Pizza Hut and TGI Fridays are now masquerading as independent restaurants (You must be logged on to see external links) to create a false sense of variety
It’s incredibly tough for small businesses, they have all my sympathy
Edit: should mention that delivery company’s commission does not scale with global earnings, so an independent burger place and a Five Guys would be paying the same amount, assuming similar popularity
(and Five Guys probably have a very cushy deal anyway)

Maccies is ridiculous now. it used to be a cheaper takeaway option sure the last time the 3 of is went it was nearly £30 quidI have a friend who is a single parent that is paying 40+ for a maccies at least once a fortnight. They can't really afford it, now too, or they get their own way.
Owt other than the chicken wraps from maccies is grimMaccies is ridiculous now. it used to be a cheaper takeaway option sure the last time the 3 of is went it was nearly £30 quid
Well it's the fault of the population for using apps instead of just ringing the shop. The big problem is the delivery companies

Coxxxxxxyyyy!Aye never again like
Just do a fakeaway. I can do cracking curries better than the indians , biryani . Chinese curry , fried rice , crispy noodles , chow mein , mexican burritos , fajita , lebanese rice , kofta , jerk chicken , southern fried , homemade burgers par excellence , pizza from scratch , base the lot . Even sushiAbsolutely shite aren’t they when you really think about it when you take into consideration the quality of the food and prices , I think it’s mainly down to laziness as to why people get them , i am one of them .
Just spent £25 (including delivery fee)on a Naan bab there and it was absolutely bang average, as most are tbh.
Waste of money , could have got and made a lot of decent food for that if I’d went shopping instead . I think I’m going on a takeaway ban , that was my first one in 2 weeks tonight believe it or not.
